From the Desk of the Editor: RETROSPECT When this yearbook reaches your hands, it will probably be late summer or well into the first few weeks of the fall semester. We are sorry for the shocking change, but we feel that this makes for a better yearbook. In fact, it makes for a more complete book as the book will go to press after the spring semester has ended. We therefore can include in the I969 SHADOWS all of the spring activities that we previously could not print be- cause of deadlines. You will no doubt notice a few other changes in this book as you thumb through it. The Greek section as well as the Administration and Faculty sections have been com- pletely overhauled. There are more and bigger color pictures as well as two separate Student Life sections. We hope these changes are well received. While we are on the subiect of changes, I think it appropriate that I introduce to you next year's Editors. They are Mimi Piombino and Sheppard Mallen. This is my third year as Editor-in-Chief and I am finally stepping down. Some people call it the end of a dy- nasty. l prefer to call it graduation. - ' I have been extremely happy about my work and extremely proud of the staffs that have worked under me. The books that we have produced in the last three years may not be the best books that you have ever seen, but the T968 and T969 editions of the SHADOWS could possibly be the best ever produced at Monmouth College. It is a start in the right direction, and I hope future Editors continue this precedent. You cannot produce a yearbook by yourself. There is credit due somewhere. It is difficult for me to single out any one person for recognition and very difficult for me to find the appropriate words to say thank you. The work of one is no less appreciated than the work of the next. I will simply say Thank you. I have one last Thank you. As a graduating Senior, I would like to thank publicly this institution, Monmouth College, for having the confidence and trust to let students have the responsibility of running such an influential and significant publication. Not once have I received less than full cooperation from any member of the administration that I approached in my tenure as Editor. In this time of unrest on college campuses, there is a lot to learn from this observation. This College has always had faith in my decisions as Editor and I have had faith in the College. In four years we have both come a long way and learned a lot. I am proud to have graduated from this institution and proud -to have contributed whatever talents I possess to this publication. ,Enjoy your copy of the T969 SHADOWS. My staff and I enioyed putting it together. We'll leave it at that. rD.pZmrf Webster B Trammell, Jr. I Editor-in-Chief T969 SHADOWS
