fail This Society was formerly known as the Amer- ican Institute of Physics, Student Section. On April 22, 1968 the Society was established with the sign- ing ofthe Articles of Agreement. The objectives of the Society are to: a. encourage and assist student physicists to de- velop the lfnowledge, competence, enthusiasm, and social responsibility that are essential to the advancement of physics, b. stimulate interest in advanced study and re- search in physics, c. develop friendship among physics students and faculty members, d. popularize interest in physics in the general col- legiate public, e. recognize the attainment ot high scholarship and potential achievement in physics among outstanding students by means of Sigma Pi Sigma membership.
