?9 July 9, 1966 Ring-g-g-g. Hello! Yes. July 19 at Herderhorst's? Why yes, I think I can make it, You say the whole class will be there? It'll be wonderful seeing all the old gang again, Yes, the time does fly! It's been ten years since we graduated from good old M,H, S. Oh, I just love my job, and Paris is just wonderful, but it's grand being home again, Remember the good times we used to have together? How are you and your family? Is your husband as rich as ever? I heard you're going on a cruise around the world in your rhinestone -studded yacht, Do you suppose Shirley and Clint and their quintuplets will be able to make it for the reunion? I think they will if they can get reservations on the next spaceship back to Earth, Do you suppose they really enjoy teaching the little Martians, Iwonder if they'll come back on one of David Beery's space- ships. I understand he designed the first practical passenger spaceship. Calvin Zippy Worthman is working with spaceships too, He was promoted from mechanic to pilot last week, In a recent letter, Shirley said that the last time they came to Earth, the stewardess spilled soup in Clint's lap. Guess who the stewardess was? That's right, Sondra Sonner! Yes, I heard about Fritz Macke, Isn't it wonderful about his being the singing quizmaster for the 31, 000, OOO Question sponsored by McDowell's Towels. That's right, the same Sarah McDowell that was in our class is now the owner of the largest towel factory in the world. Lorraine Haugk is head seam stress. Before she went to work for Sarah, Lorraine designed and made all the clothes for Sharon Kaye, our new ambassador to Monaco. By the way, did you hear that Sharon broke up the romance between Grace Kelly and Prince Ranier? She always did have a way with the men, didn't she? Did you know about Ruth Rauch's basketball team? Yes, they're all her own -- 5 boys, Ruth is Sharon's secretary and accompanies her on her travels around the world. Sharon Beltz follows them both, keeping their hair nice forthe newspaper publicity pictures, Mac Elzey drives her beautiful sky-blue-pink Futura conver- tible when she's not using her private plane piloted by Nicky Secaur, Nicky's wife, Carla, and Max's wife keep each other company while their husbands are out chauffeuring Sharon Kaye around. When she not using her hairdressing skills, Sharon Beltz is busy being a wife and mother to her family, You say Norb Witte just broke another scoring record? Yes, I know he plays for the Earth Angels of the Interplanetary Professional Basketball League. He set his new record in an exciting game with the Jupiter's Darlings which took place on Pluto? Judge Stewart Paul Schnepf, even though he is Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, still finds time to manage Norb's business affairs, Have you heard whether Marlene and Frankie will be able to come to our reunion? The farm they moved to a few years ago keeps them pretty busy, Jerry Bleeke manages their farm and also conducts re search on the latest methods of using a pig's oink to make rattles for babies. On my way home from Paris, I passed through New York City, and guess who I saw! David J. Brown, He showed me the building he designed himself, the D.J. B. -- the Dippy Jerkin Building -- where they make jerkins! It is even more magnificent than the Empire State Building, Kenny Gallmeier has the important position of chief Jerker, or head manager, at the Jerkin Factory. I understand he is doing very well in this field, Richard Keuneke a rancer? He always did like Texas but I never thought he'd become the owner of the Ken-E-Kee, 500, OOO acres of the best land in Texas, How's Anna nowadays? You say Fritz Schlem- mer is Rich's right hand man? They always were pals in high school weren't they? I heard that Marlene and Delmore Fuelling were in Texas. They own one of the biggest oil wells in the great state of Texas. They live in a huge mansion in Austin -- in the summer, that is, In the winter they reside in their coun try home with their bevy of wild animals -- a leopard, a moose, a hippopotamus, 13 parakeets, and a night owl,

Marilyn and Herb should be able to get to Herderhorst's for the reunion. Her oldest girl can probably take care of the baby. Yes, that's right, she has three now. All girls. Oh? Your little boy cut his foot the other day? What doctor did you take him to? Dr, Ruth Bulmahn and her nurse Esther Cook? I just thought those two would end up working together. Ruth and Esther dis- covered a miraculous cure for the ingrown toenail? Just what the world has always needed! Norman Davis followed Norb right through college and was a cheerleader all four years, He still follows Norb around and is now a cheerleader for the Earth Angels, He is still as energetic as ever and is really doing a wonderful job, Joyce is fulfilling her ambition and is being a good wife to Paul. If work on the farm isn't too heavy, they should be able to come to our get-together, Joyce must be a pretty good cook because I saw Paul yesterday, and he's gaining weight. It sounds like someone is listeneing in on this line, Donna. Oh, it's Donna Owens! Since when have you been a telephone operator? It must be quite an interesting job, being able to listen to all kinds of conversations, Yes, this is Bobbie and Lulabelle having an old-fashioned gab-fest on the phone. Where do you find the time when you have such a nice family? Who do you think we could get to entertain at our reunion? That's a good idea! I hadn't thought of the Viv-Son-Row Trio. So Rowena and Sondra are still singing together. I didn't know Vivian was their accompanist. Do you think they'll be able to take time out from their busy schedule of being housewives and mothers? Do you remember when they provided the entertainment for our Junior and Sen- ior Class Plays? That certainly brings back pleasant memories, doesn't it. What was the name of our Senior Play? Wasn't it something like Bake Me A Pie? Oh no, U Baka Pi, that's it, Whatever happened to our old pal Lorena Witte? Oh, her name isn't Witte anymore is it? She married Marv I-lockemeyer. They surely ought to be able to get to Mrs. Herderhorst's since they live in Woodburn, Indiana, I always knew she'd make some man a good wife. Day before yesterday, I stopped to eat at a very fashionable restaurant and who do you suppose the manager was? Shelva Miller! She sat down with me, and we talked over old times until my dinner was cold. She has made her place one of the most popular restaurants in Fort Wayne. Donna Fast is the hos- tess there and she came over to my table while I was eating dessert, The three of us talked until my ice cream melted, Donna said that Patty Hurst is Home Demonstration Agent back in Adams County, She combines these duties with her job as homemaker for her husband, Patty works closely with Naomi Kirch- hofer who is the Home Economics teacher at dear old M. H. S. Home Ec, was always Naomi's favorite sub- ject in school, and she decided to stay in the field, On my plane trip from Paris, I sat next to the most interesting man. He told me all about his job. He's chief engineer for the Westinghouse Electric Company. I thought I recognized him but it wasn't until he mentioned good old Monmouth High that I realized it was Fred Miller. It seemed as if we had just taker off when the stewardess said we would land in New York in 15 minutes, We talked so much the time just flew, This has turned out to be a pretty long telephone conversation but it sure was fun reminiscing about the good old days and all our classmates at M. H. S. I'd better let you get back to your packing for your wonderful trip around the world, I sure wish I could go with you. You must send me postcards from every country. Oh, by the way, did I tell you that I'm engaged to my boss. He's very handsome, re- mantic Frenchman with a charming accent! Yes, of course I'll bring him to the reunion. I wouldn't miss a chance like that to show him off. Well, Donna, I think we had better stop gabbing and let some- one else use this phone. I'll see you on July 19, 1966, at Mr, and Mrs. Paul Herderhorst's farm, Bye till then, iiiililllli I h 1ixV Elfdlmlfl
