. W. Early September, 1952: The first day of high school, and everybody is wondering if high school will be any different from Junior High. For one thing there are more of us. To be exact, there are now 46 members of the class of '56 of M, H, S, September 9: Organization Day today: in our first class meeting this morning we elected Clint as our first President: Stew as our Veep: Esther as Secretary: and Rowena as Treasurer, Mr. Weisenberger was chosen as our sponsor. October 1: Our first big event as a class was today, Initiation! Everybody came to school looking like tramps. Saturday, November 11: Watch the doughnut, not the hole. What a day! Erma Owens is probably dead to the world. Donna volunteered her services as chief doughnut-maker: and several mothers were her staff. Everybody had a grand time mak- ing and selling doughnuts. March 10 and 11: My feet hurt! Our trip to Chicago this weekend has been hard on everybody's feet, We came on a biology field trip and are staying at the Harrison Hotel. May 17: Well, our first year in high school is over. Commencement was last night and now we're full-fledged Sophomores. Early September, 1953: First day of school again and now we're Sophomores. Now there are only 42 of us members of the class of '56, September 6: Organization Day today: Clint was re -elected Presi- dent, Stew is Veep again, Dave Brown is Secretary, and Rowena was re-elected Treasurer. Since Mr, Weisenberger isn't teaching here anymore, the class selected Mrs. Herderhorst as our sponsor. September 30: Our bake sale at Schaefer's was today. We didn't make too much, but every penny counts. November 15: Big day. Our sweaters and jackets came this morning and was everybody excited, We wore our sweaters all the rest of the day, October 15: Everybody swing! We sponsored a square dance at Reitdorf's tonight, and you never saw such a crowd. February 10: We all worked serving visitors at the Farmer's Institute this noon, Everybody donated a pie and we also served ice cream and coffee. May 18: We're Juniors now! Commencement was last night and according to tradition, we served the punch and cookies. Early September, 1954: We're Juniors now, and we're halfway through high school, Now there are 41 members of the class of '56, September 8: Organization Day again. Clint was re -named President: Vice President is Dave Beery: Rowena was re-elected Treasurer: and Shirley was chosen for Secretary. We also selected our class colors -- blue and white: class flower -- American Beauty Rose: and class motto -- Today's Students: Tomorrow's Leaders. October 20: We had another big square dance at Reitdorf's tonight, November 10: Our first home ball game and everyone worked hard selling concessions. We'll sell at all 8 home games, November 15: Everyone made a beeline to Sutton's this afternoon to get their class rings, December 22: After all the doorbell ringing, the final report on our Christmas card sales campaign is in: and we made 39419. We're that much closer to Washington, January 24: Now We'll be ringing doorbells to sell magazines. April 14-15: The Crazy Castles, starring the Junior class was a tre- mendous success and a lot of fun. April 20: We sponsored a performance of the Dovm-I-lomers tonight, April 29: Aching arms and broken backs after our Paper Drive today. May 17-19: The girls in formals and the boys in their best suits lined the aisles as the Seniors graduated, A thrilling climax to our Junior year and now at last we're Seniors, Early September 1955: At last our Senior year is here, All 40 of us are glad to be back out somehow we're sad that this is our last year, September 9: Organization Day for the last time, Clint was elected President for the fourth time. Rich Keuneke was elected Vice President, Rowena was again elected Treas- urer: and Shirley is our Secretary. September 20: The cycle is completed. We were initiated, and now we have initiated, We had a party for the Freshmen tonight, and did we ever initiate, September 30 - Octo- ber 1: Another smash hit! Our Senior class play -- The Sweetheart of U BAKA PI, October 21: Al- though our third dance at Reitdorf's didn't bring in much money, all who were there had loads of fun. As is customary, the Seniors will publish the school yearbook, THE EAGLE, 1955-56 is the school year our class has charge of the noon concessions at school. We hope to sell a lot of coke and candy, January 7: Our name cards arrived today, They're really pretty, printed in gold. Our invitations will be here soon. April 22-26: The climax to our four years of selling Christmas cards, cokes, candy, and magazines has finally arrived -- our trip to Washington, D. C. We all agree that all our work was worth it, May 13: Baccalaureate services were held in the school gymnasium tonight. They were certainly impressive. May 15: Commencement exercises tonight, and everyone felt sad even if we have often wished that this big day would come sooner.
