nated at the Republican Convention for vice presi - dem of the United States. On Sunday I went to church, as was my custom, and found Tom Kise greeting me at the door of the church, He was successfully following in his father's footsteps. I found that the visiting evangelists were Reverend Russel Walchle and his wife, Faith Ann. Their two little red haired boys sat properly on the front seats. I decided to return home through Texas and Oklahoma. Alice told me to be sure and look up, Edwin Krueckeberg on my way through Texas. He had struck oil years before and had made millions. Ed was delighted to see me, and his wife was very beautiful. She was a statuesque six foot blond who had won the title of Miss America a few years before. They insisted I stay a few days, but I was getting homesick for hubby and children, so I de - cided to make the trip shorter. In Oklahoma I visited Marilyn Kiefer who was teaching home economics on an Indian reservation. She asked me to stay over night so we could visit awhile, and I found out what had happened to several more of my friends, She told me that Jean Kirchhofer was a very famous milliner and had bought out Lily Dache in New York, She said you just hadn't lived if you didn't own a hat with the label, by Jeanie. She said Leroy Werling was also in New York pitching for the New York Yankees. Imagine, to think he once pitched for good old M. H, S, I continued on to St. Louis, Missouri, where I had heard Bob Miller lived, I didn't have to ask questions about his whereabouts, He owned a chain of Super Markets and advertisements were posted all over town. I located him at the main store and needless to say, he was surprised to see me. We talked for nearly an hour, while I nibbled on the grapes from his fruit counter. Upon my inquiring, he told me that Charles Fuhrman, Ruben Thieme and Kenny Busick comprised a new vaudeville team called, The Three Stooges. Of course you all remember the old Three Stooges, but these three were much better. I saw that Bob was glancing nervously at his grapes so I decided to be on my way, on the last step toward home. I was so very tired when arriving in Ft, Wayne that I decided to visit Merilyn Grotrian a few days and rest up. Merilyn hadn't changed a bit. She and her husband, Eddie Stoppenhagen owned and operated a dairynfarm close to Decatur, I was de - lighted at her two little girls and her sweet little boy, The youngest little girl who was just learning to walk was especially sweet, Merilyn and I SPCDI many an hour gossiping over our coffee cups, and Merilyn enlightened me as to the whereabouts of the remainder of our 1952 graduating class, She had just returned from a week - end visit with Jane Clark at Depauw University where Iane's husband Don Maclean is a professor. Iane's red - haired twins, a boy and a girl, who just started school were considered geniuses. Jane was president of the faculty wives, and held quiet an important social position. Merilyn asked me if I had a chance to see Marilyn Bohnke while I was in Chicago? She informed me that Marilyn Bohnke was now a famous roller skating star. She also informed me that Leo Sheets and his wife owned the farm next to them and were raising registered Berkshire Hogs. That evening after dinner while we were talking, who should walk in but Virgene Selking, husband and little boy. Virgene was teaching first grade at Monmouth and her husband was principal there. We talked until nearly morning, When I left for home the next day, Iwas so happy! I hadn't realized how homesick I had been to see all my former class mates. The mem- ory of the wonderful times we had together at Mon - mouth High School will live in my heart forever.
