661:02 pw After being married eight years, and being blessed with two little girls, and two little boys, my husband decided I needed a vacation. I phoned the Transcontinental Airlines for reserva - tions and called a cab to take me to the airport, To my surprise, Iwas riding in a cab owned and operated by a fellow classmate, Howard Fuelling. After talking with him a while, I soon discovered that he owned a whole fleet of cabs. Howie got me to the airport just in time as the plane was ready to take off, As I boarded the plane, I thought I recognized the pilot. I walked up to the stewardess, to ask the handsome pilot's name, when I realized I was face to face with my old girl - friend, Evelyn Bulmahn, We laughed and cried on each other's shoulders, and when I finally got around to asking who the pilot was, to my amazement, it was none other than David Sprunger, the bird - boy of Monmouth, My first stop was in Chicago, and to make this trip interesting, I decided I needed some new clothes. The first shop I entered, I found Daisy Davis, modeling bathing suits. And very well, too! We chatted for a while about old times and she told me to be sure and see the newest Broadway hit, starring Larwell Cable. I enjoyed the show very much, and I went back - stage to see Larwell. He hadn's changed a bit except to become more dignified and polished looking, We got to talking about old friends from Monmouth, and Larwell told me that the newest stars of the television screen were the famous comedians, Frank Becker and Jim Goldner. They were rapidly taking the place of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis who had retired a few months before, They had a handsome crooner on their program by the name of Jack Everett. He told me that Jack was married and had two darling little daughters by the names of Donna and Joyce. Remembering an invitation I received to visit Alice Fuelling and her husband on a chicken ranch in California., I boarded an A B C bus in Chicago, and started my trip westward, The bus driver kept staring at me until Irealized I'd seen him before. It was none other than Bob Bultemeier, an old schoolmate. He made me very comfortable and asked if I ever heard from any of the gang. I relayed all the information I knew, and asked if he had ever heard from any of our mutual friends, He said he wrote regularly to Lawrence Roop, who was now a famous wrestler. Also Harriet Fuelling was a famous cowgirl singer on The Saturday Night Jamboree in Nashville, Tennessee. I knew I couldn't possibly see them all, so I continued westward. I arrived in California, and was met at the station by Alice and her four little sun - tanned boys, ages two, four, six, and seven. I met her husband at the ranch house and they made me feel very much at home. Alice informed me that they were having a square dance that evening, When we arrived at the dance, it was in full swing, I could hear the caller above the scrape of the fiddles. I was positive I'd heard that voice before, after all these years. Sure enough, Don Gallmeyer! I still didn't know how to square dance, Don gen - erously offered to teach me to dance. He got his partner to do the calling and I ventured out onto the floor with him, Under his expert teaching, I spent one of the most enjoyable evenings of my life. Don was still as handsome as ever, and happily married to one of the sweetest little blonds I ever laid eyes on. The next day was Saturday and California's governor was to speak on television, I knew the governor was Kenny Schueler, but I was unprepared to see how natural he looked and sounded, He still maintained his dignity and spoke with such force that Iwas amazed. Alice informed me that there were rumors going around that he might be nomi -
