Hazel ' s Girls sang out some timely cuts for the male population. The all school talent show gave two performances — Thursday, November 2 1 , in convocation and the following Saturday for senior weekend. Besides the traditional features, such as the Pepper Cats, there were excellent freshman acts and undiscovered talent in the upperclassmen. ' Joe the Bartender ' and ' Crazy ' lost a turkey, but gained a chicken. WMH! I sleep in a single bed. 22

On Friday afternoon, November 22, 1963 the members of the Monmouth facuhy and student body were shocked by the news of an awful tragedy. John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States had been assassinated while riding in a parade in Dallas, Texas. Words could not express the astonished feelings which each of us held. A memorial service was held on Monday, the day set aside as the national day of mourning. The late president was honored by a presentation by Dr. Speel. The impact of this event upon our lives will remain with many of us for years to come. Two hundred and fifty seniors arri ed on campus the night of No cmber 22. Ahhough the student body- was deeply saddened by the death of President Kennedy, Monmouth students gra- ciously shared their rooms for the weelcend and showed the prospective students the campus. Among the activities for the three day visit were an all- college talent show, a senior-faculty tea, and a ragtime concert featuring Max Morath. 23
