THE PRESIDENT ' S MESSAGE For more than a hundred years history has been in the making at Monmouth College. One yearbook after another has told the fascinating story. This book is a record of a very important year in the life of all por- trayed within these pages. It tells of achievements, successes, failures. The discerning eye is able to see evidences of growth in students ' attitudes and ideas; romance, social living and friendly fellowship are all an important part of the record. The enduring qualities of the book are to be found in the faculty to whom successive student generations owe a tremendous debt. Lectures, labora- tories, classroom discussions, seminars, chapels, personal counseling, social contacts, and quiet moments of heart-searching create memories that time can never erase. We are proud of the small Christian college and the contribution which it continues to make to our American life. Monmouth is glad to belong to this noble company. It is a privilege to serve such an institution and to have a small part in maintaining an atmosphere of learning where facts and fan- cies are being evaluated, where horizons are being lifted and where new doors of opportunity are constantly opening.
