N. , took ona ew aspect of health. Slimnastics replaced the traditional health careers club. The club's pur- ose was to help its members count calories and balance dietary problems. Measurements and eigh-ins were taken weekly for each member. The girl who lost the most Weight each Week re- eived a necklace to Wear until another girl earned the right to Wear it by losing more Weight. 7 Slimnastics 85

SENIUR HIGH GAA COMES UNDER NEWLEADERSHIP A changed atmosphere came with the arrival of Miss DeRubeis, the new physical educa- tion teacher. Miss DeRubeis strived for relaxation in sports instead of strict competition. Her main objective was to enjoy sports without discrimination. Among the new activities she introduced during her first year were shuffleboard, ping pong, badminton, and tennis. MOTTERN SWANKSUPERVISE BIOL OGYCLUB Under Mrs. Mottern and Mr. Swank, the Biology Club planned to attend the BuelPlanet- arium and the Pittsburgh Zoo during the school year. To attend these learning centers required money, and to raise this money, the club hoped to sponsor a dance and a bake sale.
