They broke off old family ties and left old cultures behind. With the plow they broke new soil and left behind furrows which yielded rich harvests and deep thoughts. Our Heritage-the plow, the ship, the locomotive, the plane-symbolizing deep delving, breasting storms, unflag- ging energy, daring initiative. Friends, grasp the torch! Many of the seniors of the Class of '49 will be the leaders of tomorrow and will contribute to the progress of the American Way of Life. May all of you achieve even greater honor and still be numbered with those who will receive additional honor for services rendered in the rebuilding of this world of ours.
