No school, no matter its size, may have more than one team, and all teams prepare for competition in six academic areas: economics, fine arts, language and literature, mathematics, science, and social sciences, and history. On the state level, three competitive meets are held, the first taking place in November at subdivisions of twelve CESA sites. At this time, team members write six tests in the areas already mentioned, and the top three teams at each sub-division plus the next six top scoring schools in the small medium and large school divisions advance to the regional meet in January, at which time speeches, essays, and interviews are added to the competition. The final competition is held at the state level in June, and the one state winner advances to the national event. Our team this year, a wonderful group of dedicated, fun-loving, and very capable Mondovi students, began preparation for the November meet early in the summer and continued to prepare until the day of competition. These efforts were successful, however, after having been informed of our right to advance, Mondovi placed second out of sixteen schools, we had to disqualify ourselves because the team’s grade point averages were three-huhdredths of a point too high. The pool is going to be 40% larger than the old pool and will hold 245,000 gallons of water. The diving area will be 13 feet deep and has steps for handicapped people to enter the pool. The filter will handle 512 gallons per minute and will filter all water 3 times per day. The pool water will be warmed using a natural gas heater. There will be a wading pool for toddlers — 24 feet x 24 feet — with a separate fenced in area to protect young children from the deep main pool. There will be a bath house with showers, toilets, equipment storage, and secured clothing storage. The pool is being constructed on a site where it can be covered and enclosed for year around use sometime in the future if the community desires. The projected completion date is May, 1988. When we were freshmen, we thought of him as a strict army sergeant-type person who had one volume level — LOUD. By the time we were seniors, we discovered the “real” Mr. Brugger — a kind, caring man we’re happy to call our friend. We would like to say thanks for all your help and guidance throughout the year. If it had not been for you, we probably wouldn’t have made our deadline. With your constant reminders, we are happy to say we are finished. We’re proud of our work and we hope you are too. 94 95 m cb Mark broke his nail? Patti fell asleep? Chris didn’t want to pose? Jessie wrote with her mouth? Toni shared her necklace? Don’t look back and see the tears Streaking down my face. In my heart you’ll never be Replaced. Hold tight to today and it will Take you to tomorrow. Hold your head high and you Will see that the sorrow Will soon fade with a dream That is yet to be. We’re going to be the best of all, just You wait and see! Take me with you when you go. I’ll Stay forever in your heart. That way we’ll never have to say we Lost a part of ourselves. You’re just the part of me I can’t let Go. And I thank God you are a Friend I’ll always know. So thank you for growing up with me My friend. Parting now, we’ll reach for the Stars and see it’s not an end. But the beginning of a life we’ve Dreamt of for so long. Now it’s time to show the world — We’ve made each other strong! Autographs
