Mike completed 73 of 152 passes for a total of 951 yards. Brian was on the receiving end hauling in 36 catches for a total of 496 yards and 2 touchdowns. Chris Hurtley was the leading rusher gaining 334 yards in 88 attempts for an average of 3.8 yards per carry. Pat Poeschel was close behind in rushing with a total of 329 yards in 78 attempts for an average of 4.2 yards per carry. In Middle Border competition the Buffs placed second in team passing offense gaining 974 yards on 76 completions for 6 touchdowns. Brian Konkel, Tim Falkner, and Trint Trip were named to the Middle Border All-Conference Team. In regional competition, they defeated Eleva-Strum 2-0 before bowing to Dairyland Conference champion Whitehall 7-2. With the experience the young team gained, the future looks bright. The Buffs were 4-10 overall. The leading spiker was Beth Kins with 222 attempted — 177 good — 73 aces. Dana Becker was the leader in sets with 315 attempted — 300 good. Mary Deetz was the leading hitter with a .471 conference average. Beth Kins had a .348 conference average and Lisa Erickson followed with a .300 average. BUFF GIRLS WIN CONFERENCE AND REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS The Mondovi Girls Cross Country Team won the Middle Border Conference championship with a total of 54 points. Jamie Falkner finished fourth with a 13.55 time. Julie Olufson placed 12th, Angie Hehli 14th, Becky Heck 18th, Kris Olson 21st, Dorothy Ableidinger 23rd, and Laurie Stoughton 26th. In the regional competition the Buff girls defeated Durand, New Richmond, and Baldwin-Woodville. The top finisher for the girls in the regional was Jamie Falkner who placed 4th. The dress-up days were: Clash Day, Rock Day, Mr. Bauer Look-alike Day, Dress-up Day, and of course, Blu-n-White Day. The Seniors displayed a unique and different style of spirit. They won the Hall Decorating Contest with their slogan “Senior Boot Camp.” The Freshmen won the Skit Contest, and the Juniors won the Spirit Jug. The Pep Rally was headed by the Cheerleaders, Band, and Pom Pon Girls. Tasha Rud and Todd Eide were crowned Queen and King Thursday night at the Pep Assembly.
