Bus Drivers School wouldn’t be school if we didn’t have students, and many students from MHS wouldn’t be in school if we didn’t have bus drivers. No matter what type of weather . . . winter, spring, summer, or fall, the bus drivers manage to safely get the students to school each morning. Cooks Man cannot live on bread alone . . . and thanks to our cooks, we don’t. The end products of their labor are usually all that is seen. What we don’t see are the endless hours of planning and preparation that go into every meal. L to R.. Standing: Mrs. Heck, Mrs. Brantner. Mrs. Sic. Mrs. Berger. Mrs. Paulson. Cleaning, waxing, odd and end repairs, and generally keeping MHS in running order is an around-the-clock, year-long job for the custodial staff. This was a year in which important decisions were made. As a class we had the experience of losing, winning, fighting, leading, and peering into the future. Plans for college, vocational school, etc., taking the ACT and SAT tests, all became more of a reality as the year came to an end. The class of ’78 was a close-knit class. Through the past four years, we learned that we are individuals with our own thoughts. Being able to accept people for what they are and for what they believe are things that we hope we have accomplished. s e v e n t y E i g h t Seniors — Poge 14 KAREN MARSOLEK BAUER: Algebra Club 3 KERRY BAUER: F.F.A. 1, 2, 3, 4; B.A.A. 3, 4; Football 1: Ski Club 2, 3,4 MARY BAUER: Pep Club 2. 3. 4: F.H.A. 2. 3; G.A.A. 2, 3.4: F.T.A. 3.4: Ski Club 3,4 DAVID BAUMANN: “Samson.” Letter Club 2, 3, 4; Student Council 3, 4; F.F.A. 1: Concert Band 1, 2, 3. 4; Pep Band I. 2. 3. 4; B.A.A. 4: Algebra Club 3; Prom Court 3; Senior Play 4: Football 1,2. 3: Basketball 1.2,3: Baseball 1,2. 3,4: Letter Winner 1,2. 3,4 THERESA BAUMGART: “Terri,” Pep Club 1, 2; Letter Club 1, 2, 3, 4; Pres. 4; Honor Society 3, 4; Pres. 4; Student Council 1, 2, 3. 4; Forensics 1, 2; Debate 2; F.H.A. 1, 2, 3, 4: Sec. 3; Pres. 4; G.A.A. 1, 2, 3, 4; Senior Class Treas. 4; Senior Math Club 4; Algebra II Club 3; Prom Committee 3; Student Director—Senior Play 4; Basketball 1, 2, 3: Volleyball 1, 2, 3, 4; Letter Winner 1, 2, 3, 4: Softball 4; Art Club 4; Treas. 4: DAR Candidate 4; State F.H.A. Your teachers say come back and see them and know you won't. Maybe someday it won't matter, but right now it hurts a little. There is a bond between Seniors, a sort of pride we feel in class accomplishments. It seems a short time since each of us set foot in the strange halls that were to become our second home for the next four years. All of those people who seemed so strange and threatening, turned out to be friends, rather than instructors. Some teachers who were so gruff and strict the first week of school, found that students have a knack for perceiving their soft spots and using them to their fullest advantage. We took even more pride in our teams knowing that the players were the friends we've grown to know the past four years. These four years we've made friends who have become a part of our lives, and as we graduate we begin our journey across the next stepping stones to enrich these friendships and make many more. s JUNIOR P H O FRESHMEN O R E lassmi The Junior Class experienced the process of molding together as a close knit unit. At the beginning of the season, things didn't look good for the Football team. When the entire JV and Varsity squads consisted of 26 players, the chance to repeat as Middle Border Conference Champions didn’t seem possible, but it was accomplished with determination, hard work, and positive attitudes. After losing the first game to Arcadia, hopes for a winning season seemed far away, but the team didn’t give up. By the end of the season they were one tough football squad with a 7-2 record. Throughout the week people dressed in costumes designated for each day. Halls were lined with steamers and signs. The annual parade was held Friday afternoon. The first place award for floats went to the Freshmen, the first place award for windows went to the Sophomores, and there was a tie between the Seniors and Senior Math Club for the skit award. The annual Spirit Jug was won by the Seniors. Double excitement was experienced by the enthusiastic crowd at the MHS football field. The game against rival Durand was truly great. The final Homecoming score was Mondovi 13. Durand 0. Mr. and Mrs Rose crowned Jim Daruinger and Kay Lunderville the new 1977 Homecoming Royalty. The hard work put in by the entire student body throughout the week, united with the game’s success, made the Friday night dance a memorable experience for everyone. It was decided by the Committee that the colors would be: mint green, yellow, pink. blue, and orange. A small waterfall which consisted of feathered rocks, mushrooms, and different types of greens enlivened the atmosphere. Also adding a sparkle to the decorations was the new glass mirror ball that the Juniors were able to buy with the help of the pennant sale held in February. The first thing that I’d like to do. Is to save every day ’til eternity passes away Just to spend them with you. If I could make days last forever. If words could make wishes come true. And What Do We Remember? We looked back and remembered the happy times, feeling the rewards of hard work and dedication. At other times we felt all alone, isolated in the midst of a crowd. Our existence was one of constant new beginnings and continuous endings that filled our lives and our memories. It was our year, molded by the vast and diverse character of who we were and had become. Autographs
