Their first competitive meet is held in March. The winners from the first meet progress to higher levels of competition. Speakers must maintain an A rating at each meet to attend the state meet. Poise, speaking ability, and just plain hard work have helped Mondovi to be recognized as one of the top forensics teams in the state. 40 This year, with a predominatley novice debate squad, the focus was placed on learning the functions and responsibilities of the varsity debater. Terry Pace, veteran debater, aided the novice debaters in devoloping these skills. A trip to the WSU-EC discussion tournament gave novice members a look at actual debate, while Terry accumulated 14.0 out of 15.0 points giving Mondovi first place in the tournament.
