Toward New Horizons - that is the motto of the Future Homemakers of America, an organization designed to help young girls all over America improve themselves spiritually, morally, physically, and mentally through personal, family, and community living. The Mondovi Chapter of the F. H. A. has fifty members. One way to reach set goals is by working for degrees; Junior, Chapter, and State. The Junior Degree is achieved by filling out a booklet with information about things you have done or improved in your family. Is is also concerned with improving yourself. The Chapter Degree is concerned with work in the family and your own local F. H. A. Chapter. Finally, the State Degree deals with your work in your home, your local chapter and your community to help better and improve them. Goals can also be obtained by participating in bake sales or candy sales, and F.H.A. -functions such as dances, parties, floats, and skits. A began this year with its largest membership ever. There are 84 members, which includes 100% of the Vocational Agriculture enrollment, and 14 post highschool members. The largest program being carried on by the Chapter this year is the Farm Safety Program. An extensive Slow Moving Vehicle sign campaign and a very successful Safe Corn Harvest Program were conducted. This is the first year this Chapter has had three State Farmer Applicants. They are Eugene Bump, Gary Moe and Dennis Werlein. Gary Moe is also making application for a state office. Other activities of the Chapter have been a good Corn for Polio Drive, the Rodent Control program, and a donkey basketball game to raise money for the AFS student fund. Dennis Werlein won the local FFA public speaking program and represented the Mondovi Chapter in the District Contest at Osseo. OFFICERS L-R; K. Ward, Treasurer, G. Moe, V-President; L.
