MR. WILLIAM HEHLI SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE A high school’s primary concern lies in its students, and the foundation for their future is constructed of books as well as cement blocks. Mondovi High School has grown upward and outward by raising its standards of scholastic achievement and adding to its physical plant. It isappropriate that the 1963 Mirror has taken Building as its theme. While recent years have witnessed considerable physical expansion, Mondovi High School has since its beginning, inspired young people to great educational attainment. The success or failure of a building program depends on the students it serves - you are its product and reason for its existence. What you are, what you do, and what you are in the end, justifies the building and forms the basis for its reputation. Mondovi High School is proud of the record of the students who have graduated and believes that the quality of education it offers will rest secure in the present student body and the 1963 graduating class - that its goals will continue to be your goals. Administration PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE As a famous general once said: The battle is won the day before. In the battles of life, too, victory depends on the quality of our preparation. Are you going to be prepared? If you are, you must give attention to scholarship. Your beginning could take the form of a single, but noble minded purpose such as the desire to know everything. Your goal might be, now I know, or better, now I understand. A realization needed is that more people die of hardening of the categories than ever die of hardening of the arteries. Next we should consider our attitude toward work. Challenge should not be a frightening word to the scholar. In finding answers, we are approaching the real function of education, that of preparing us to intelligently frame questions. You must face the challenge with persistence, perseverance, and the willingness to face failure. Remember, that a second-rater is not one who tried to be first-rate and failed, but one who tried to be second-rate and succeeded. The scholar realizes that it is impossible to be bored with his lot. Because to him, life is pure adventure shared with adventures. 6 MR. JOHN HERPST
