7 te 1 ediccUia+t We, the seniors of the Mondovi High School, admiringly dedicate this 1949 annual to Leona Gunderson, and we are grateful for her five years of faithful work as a secretary in our school. Leona was in the first class that completed Junior high and hi school in the new building graduating in 1944. Since that time she has assisted Mr. Dodgr as secretary, the Board of Education, the faculty, and has obligingly supplied the students of this school with theil necessities. £i4 xeAi+ite+u£e+tt The character of a school should be reflected in its annual. We hope that this mirror will help you to remember the pleasant years that you spent in the Mondovi High School. C. L. Dodge feaa iA of £, huudia+t Director—W. F. ..otle Steading: K. W. Grady, B. J. When you read the sports page in the newspaper, you saw in black and white, that you would be lucky to be in fifth or sixth place. Then, after a pre-season scrimmage with St. Patrick's of Eau Claire that kind of riled up the football blocd in your veins, you took on NelUsville, defending champions of the Cloverbelt league, and shut them out 4 to 0 to successfully dedicate our new lighted field. Whitehall came over as your guests the following week and you beat them 12 to 0. Journeying over to Augusta you came back nome with a 25 to 6 victory. Now you were living, talking, and eating football. You showed that when you beat Black River Falls, a tough team, 21 to 0. Then you travelled to Gales-ville to do battle with a big, tough Galesville team. You lost that one to an inspired team, 7 to 6. But you bounced bock and defeated your always tough, traditional rival, Arcadia, 33 to 6. Next you went to Durand where you gave the crowd a real glimpse of football by stopping them cold on your three-inch line and beating them, 12 to 0. Now was your big chancel If you could beat or tie Osseo, the championship was yours. And you came through by tying them in a thriller, 0 to 0. Once a-ain, as through the whole season, you were outweighed; and once again, as throughout the whole reason, your never-say-die spirit showed you the way to victory. We of ihe MIRROR salute you, team, for your fine linemen; who, when they weren't stopping the enengr, were o uaing holes for your backs to scoot through; your clever backs who could both twist, dart, and buix when needed to; your hard-working coaches, Chick Kolstad and Don Horn, who taught you your know-how and gave you your incentive to win; and last, but not least, your loyal Mon-dovi fpns who followed wherever you went, and boosted you to victory. Once Again—thanks, team, for showing us real sportsmanship.
