BASEBALL A Aln All. - 1ST ROW--C. Wicks, C. Parker, A. Parker, W. Dey, M. Durfey. 2ND ROW--E.McVicker,D.Strayer,R.Behrens,H.Zwyer, C.Rinehart, T.Winter. 3RD ROW--R. H. VanAusdale-Coach, L.Rogers, T.Howard, E.Kuhn, N. Heslet-Mgr. The 1940 baseball schedule was cut short because of in- clement weather. Fourteen games were arranged and the boys looked forward to a good season only to have seven of the games cancelled on account of rain or wet grounds. Our team was unable to prepare properly for the county tournament held at Whitehouse and were not ready for Holland who defeated them in the opening game. This was the first time in some years that they failed to win or to go to the finals. The boys missed the Defiance trip and will be point- ing for it in l9Ll. The Mammaagame at Maumee found this team doing its best work. E. Kuhn held the Maumee batters to six scattered hits while Monclova's boys collected eleven hits to win 6-2. E.McVicker's catching indicated what can be expected for l9l.l. The loss of A. Parker, W. Dey, and R. Behrens will put quite a hole in the middle of the defense. It is fortunate to have coming up some promising material which will go far when these above vacancies are to be filled.
