Not long ago, his name he scrawled upon these walls, With us he walked these same long rows. But now his desk does empty stand, His locker's clean of books and things. One empty space within the band Of boys, where echoes of his laughter ring. F R I S B Y F L 0 W E R S Not long ago, with other boys, he made a trip To those fair lands where he was raised. With merry eye and laughing lip He left, who by all was loved and praised. From that first trip, he made another, To the land of eternity, away beyond the stars Accompanied not by father, mother, sister, brother, He went alone this distance far. But those still here remember him, His laugh, his smile, his slow, soft drawl. And memories of the pain grow dim, He is remembered laughing, running--standing tall.
