ROW TH REE, Sandy Crews, Teemaree Bussey, Annette Auten, Christie Troeller, Kathy Thomson, Laurie Crews, Suzanne Bledsoe. INSET: Varsity, Karin Blevins, Karen Wong, Kathy Baggarly. The lVlonache varsity gymnastics team finished the season tied for second in the league, This was IVlo- nache's first year competing on varsity level . They won two of four league meets and placed second in league finals . Two girls, Caren Wong and Karin Blevins, qualified for the valley meet as two of the top twelve gymnasts in the league. Varsity captain is Kathy Baggerly, senior. IVlost Valuable Player award went to Wong, junior. Coach's Award was earned by Blevins, also a junior. The juniors varsity team, in its second year of competition, finished second in the league . They won three of four league meets and took second in league finals. The team was by returning lettervvomen TeeNIaree Bussey and Linda Johnson and newcomers CeCe Chamberlain, Amy Chamberlain, and Pam Chamberlain. ROW FOUR, Craig Goodin, John Kennedy, Richard Petzold, Henry Salinas, Mark Havens, Danny Quinn, Billy Morriss, Frank Suzman, Albert Meek, Scott Gilbertson, Greg Chaney, Curt Semple, Jeff Williams This was the first year that lVIonache had a football team that consisted of all freshmen . As things turned out, it was a very good team, as stated by Coach Jerry Vinson. He and Coach Drew Williams led the team to a tie for the league championship. They let down against Tulare Western, after going ahead of them 6-0 . T he Wizzard Mad man Across the Water The Nlonache High School water polo team had a tough sea- T son, according to Coach Lon Gwyn . They ended with a L 2-4 league record. The Nlost Valuable Player on the team this year was Don Quatacker, the Most Improved on the T varsity squad was John Fowler. Captains of the top team 1 were Joey Santos and Skip Chase. One of the highlights of , the season was the team's trip to San Luis Obispo to partici- pate in a two-day tournament. They competed against San Luis 0bispo's mid-coast valley champion . They also par- ticipated in a tournament at Vlt. Whitney . According to Coach Gwyn, A strong point of the water polo programs at Nlonache High School is the teams' desire to play, team- work, pride, and the help and support of the parents and faculty. y VARSITY 84 :L
