I thought about the freedom I had sacrificed For knowledge. And yet my anticipation Was greater than it had ever been. I reached out to find An image In the mass of student Numbers. A time for discovering, But every moment so precio So short. us, flung' Every day we all take the tripg Not a I5c one on a bus But one around the school. Some of us notice, Others-well, they exist. I took the trip around the school that I take every day, Only this time I tried to make myself be more aware Of the things around me. I saw a different school than that o Halls I'd walked And desks I'd sat in before. I even noticed the cool breeze that frequently enters the hall and Gently sways the grass and plants In the yard. As I walked my mind began to wander It thought about time-how it runs so fast and will not Stop for anyone. For it belongs to the sun and only the sun will determine Its destination 'Seems like yesterday,' we all seem to say ES F' - : . 421 3 -, -w M1 -, -i :f-. ii 'Do NOT! But what was fantasy then is reality now. Today is today--now is now. And tomorrow today will be yesterday. For we are merely the recipients of time. We are growing up And every day the world has something new in store for us, If we would only take the time to find it. ML., M I saw the same old people I had known for years, But this time I saw the Individual personality among the masses. I saw new faces- New because this time I could see the minds Behind them. I noticed that some of these people I-lad found themselves. 0 u o a u n o o a a u s Q c s 1 n n a o A n u s a n 1 w o 4 u o o o n Q o o o 1 n u s 4 Q o a u s o o o Q u a s s Q Q e a u 1 o u Q n o n o n Q l n 4 o o Q n u o o n Q n o'c'a'n'1'o'Q'l'o's'e'o'u'n's n u 1 a n e a n a 1.4 .e.6.u.s Q o u n o 4 e.v.o.u essence souanonusooenon ouoosaneooonuoo usooosaeoeoouco onuaaooaaoonnanoo nun onuuacuouo on ooo u'v n Q n a'n'a'u'v'o'a'l o Q A A' 0 s Q Q 1 n Q Q o e n Q u c 9 c u f':'.':'. a u 0 o 9 a n a Q o s 0.0 n u o l I 1.0 l I I O I I O I I 0.0 O l.O.l.O.l l.O'l.l.l. nuaoocnoosnnaooous uoanaossn. And they each seemed to be condemning The other for their Beliefs. But why worry about someone else's beliefs, as long as I am content with mine? We all have our own ideas about life, And no matter what one believes If he is truly happy Then it is a beautiful thing, indeed. For most of the couples the evening started with mothers taking pictures and relatives gathering around. A Grand March at the High School began the formal activities. The stage was set in the manner of a formal garden, with various bushes, trees, and lawn furniture. After the Grand March the Aliquippa Boulevard swarmed with cars containing the gowned young la- dies and handsome young men enroute to Ambridge Country Club for a combined prom and post-prom. The prom began at l0:0Op.m. and ended at 5:O0a.m. Between this time a buffet lunch was served and enter- tainment was provided by B.E. Taylor and the Estab- lishment, Free Port, and Pot Latch. At 5:O0a.m. the same cars traveled along the boulevard back to Monaca for a few hours sleep. In accordance with a type of tradition most of the couples went to one of many possible places for a picnic. Although the week- end was a bit cold, all the couples attending the prom unanimously agree the weekend was an unforgetable experience. Biology Camp Year Number 20 Each year Biology camp holds a special place in the springtime ritual of MHS sophomores. The campers of 1971 had a special honor be- stowed upon them, they were the 20th class of campers to enjoy the wonderful experiences of the camp. This anniversary was celebrated with a cake thanking Mr. Schenly for 20 years of camp. These three days had only two things wrong with them . . . Rain and mud. But acting as true biologists not many complaints were heard and high spirits prevailed throughout classes and evening entertainment. j Festa? Production Staff FIRST ROW: K. Bequeath, N. Hood, B. The State vs. the Wolf, who tried to eat up Gramma . . . These famous opening lines are from lvlonaca High School's all-school play which took place tto the pleasure of the masses? on March 12 and 13 in the ca etorium. Three one-act plays were chosen on the basis of their experimental value. The Lottery, a drama, was the first dramatic production in a long time. The Hairy Falsetto, an absurd farce, was the first of its kind to be presented at the school. So the Jury Was Hung was on the line of the type of play usually presented at MHS. Because of the number of people needed for each of the plays, many students were in more than one. A record number of students participated in this year's production. Each concert that the Chorus gives seems to get better. Proof of this is the various activities the chorus has been asked to perform. These functions included, two school concerts at Christmas and one concert at the Beaver Valley Mall. A Spring Concert highlighted the year. A 26 member concert choir had very many out-of-town perform- ances including the Rotary Club of New Brighton. The main activity of this chorus was a Veterans Day Float. The Chorus participated in many more activities and we thank them for the many musical moments they provided. During our lives we are all participants and spectators, leaders and followers, givers and receivers, dreamers and doers, satisfied and dissatisfied. Individuals Progress . . . and progression is dependent on individual performance. Individuals together form groups . . . and these groups are relative environments for individual behavior. 130 I began to see things more clearly, And as I neared the end of my trip I still wondered What it was all about- Where time had gone. But then I realized That as long as the sun keeps shining Time will not run out- Sings So why not sit back and enjoy life By finding all the beautiful things it Has for everyone?
