Tony has been custodian of Monaca High School for four years. To the students and teachers alike, he is not just a person hired to keep the school clean, but a pal who is always ready to assist in any possible way. With his friendly character, he has brought cheer and happiness to Monaca High School. Yes, Tony is truly a friend worth remembering. To Tony goes the credit for keeping our school in spic-and-span order. He can always be seen busily going about his tasks. We, the Senior Class of 62 want to thank you, Tony, for making our three years in Monaca Senior High School much more pleasant than they could have been without you. Best wishes for success in the oncoming years, Tony! Monaca School Board The School Board members are: Mr. Mitchell Thomas, Mr. Samuel R. Brown, Mr. Lester Patton, Dr. William G. Milliron, Mr. Robert Pritchard, Mr. Reed M. Heckman. The silent force behind our school that is responsible for its management and administration is our school board. Under its competent direction the ideals of the Monaca School District are kept ever high. Among their many duties it is their task to make final decisions and approvals of major problems and needs of the Monaca School District and to keep the schools running efficiently and systematically. We, the class of 62, wish to extend to the Monaca School Board our warmest congratulations and thanks for a job well done. 6 FACULTY Supervising Principal Dr. Marcus Davies TO THE GRADUATING CLASS Learning is a do-it-yourself effort. No one else can learn for you. Others may assist you in learning, but only you can experience the growth and satisfaction that accompanies learning. Your high school courses and activities offered many op- portunities to develop knowledge, under- standing and ski 11s, but only you can measure what and how much you learned from them. If you now have some esteem for learning, and a respectful attitude toward education and if you possess the humility to admit that there is still much you will have to learn, your high school days were well spent. May your personal growth and oc- cupational advancement keep step with your successive birth dates. Congratulations on your first major achievement. Yours very truly, Dr. Marcus Davies Miss Constance Blair is Dr. Davies com- petent secretary. 8 Everyday is a busy day for Dr. Davies. ’’Now, who sent you to see me7' TO THE CLASS OF 1962 The completion of this school term will end your secondary course of study, but not your education. Education does not terminate with a graduation cere- mony. It is a life-long proposition. Everyone cannot continue a formal type of ed- ucation or training, but each of you can do his utmost to develop his potentialities to the fullest, and to live a meaningful and satisfying life. My congratulations and best wishes. Sincerely, Frank W. Crawford Guidance Counselor Mr. Taormina giving guidance to several students in his new office. PHILLIP TAORMINA Guidance Counselor College Prep Sen ior High Secretary Mrs. Constance Rinker Is Mr.Crawford's capable assistant. She is a Monaca High School graduate. Mangin To the Senior Class: As you young people look ahead into the future, you talk of seeing the pathway of life through which you are about to walk. If you could pick your trip, it would probably be along a shaded, grassy path brightened with sunlight by day and moonlight by night. Your parents and friends wish for you an easy, steady progress leading directly to your goal. What a simple life we could have if we could all see the rapid fulfillment of our ambitions! Or would it be so simple? Look about you to see men and women you consider successful, and you find living proof that the trek through life is not im- possible. Set your goals high and face the route toward them honestly, confidently. If others championed fate, so can you. Should you falter along the way, scramble to your feet and push ahead. No obstacle course need be impossible for young people with your ability and ambition. Once you find the success you seek, you will be glad that you stuck to your plans through it all. Christy J. At the beginning of the season the team was led by the signal- calling of our capable quarterback RonMattes. Unfortunately, due to a broken collarbone,Ron was unable to finish the season. John Raymer, our big center, accomplished many tasks centering the ball and protecting the middle of our line. Ken Ursic, tackle, was also a great contribution toward the strength de- fending the backfield. KEN URSIC MIKE SWAGER RON MATTES JACK AVOUO ROGER GROGG 102 Two small but very powerful guards .Tom Hanson and Mike Swagger, provided added power against the opposition. Terry Brandt, a former end converted to a guard position, produced the potential energy of speed. Our two aerial specialists, ends Jack Avolio and Roger Grogg, made great progress through the season. Dug Hayes, who normally plays the fullback position, helped fill in the vacant spot of Mattes. Mike Bickerton and Jerry McIntosh, two hard driving and speedy half- backs, were of considerable help in promoting the ground attack.
