MR. PHILLIP II. PETRIE Supervising Principal As the enrollment of the Monaca Schools has gradually in- creased, the administrative, financial, and educational problems have made Mr. Petrie’s duties more numerous. Looking forward toward the future housing situation of our school, Mr. Petrie has been instrumental in the building of the beautiful Fourth Ward Elementary School, dedicated November 2, 1955. At the present writing, the ground was broken March 3, lor the construction of the new Fifth Ward Elementary School dur- ing the insuing year. In acknowledgement of Mr. Petrie's efforts and interest, the members of Class '56 express their gratitude to him. 19

MR. EU DOR E (i. GROLEAU Principal To Mr. Groleau, our high school principal, goes the sincerest appreciation of the Class of 1956 for the personal interest he has shown to our class and throughout the years of his princi- palship to every student. Nothing gives him greater pleasure than to be informed of the success of his former students. Mr. Groleau has worked constantly for the betterment of our high school's educational pro- gram within his limitations. He has also given of himself in the service of his community. He was a Monaca councilman lor eight years; chairman of the Beaver County Recreational Commit- tee during World War II; is a past president of the Secondary School Principals Association of Beaver County; is a member of the Monaca Police Commission for the past 15 years; and one of the original members of Monaca Planning Commission. Mr. Groleau has always had great interest in high school athletics. In the early years of his association with the Monaca Schools, he has been coach of football and basketball, and athletic director. He has been connected with the WP1AL since 1927, and he has served as WPIAL District 7 basketball committee chairman since 1933. The citizens of Monaca, the many students who have come under his influence as teacher and principal are grateful and appreciative for his many years of unselfish service to our commu- nity and our high school. As the last class to be graduated under his leadership, guidance, and inspiration, we would like to wish Mr. Groleau all that is best in life. 21
