Mary S tor er — 72 Homecoming Queen Momence High School's 18th annual Homecoming activities started Friday afternoon, October 13, with a parade down Washington Street that ended at the city parking lot. When the parade was over, the cheerleaders led a pep rally near the parking lot and the winning floats were announced. The Junior class took first place with their float en- titled We're Coffin Up a Victory. The second- place Seniors' theme was We're Expecting a Vic- tory. Third place was given to the Sophomore class with the theme Get the Point? Last place, Beat Those Horny Blue Devils, belonged to the Freshman class. First place in the organization entries was the FHA- HERO float, Burn' Em! The second-place theme, Flatten the Blue Devils, belonged to the March- ing Monesse. National Honor Society entered the only car in the parade. That evening a snake dance started in the city park- ing lot and ended at the high school with a bonfire. After the bonfire, the football field became the center of attention when the Redskins met Peotone's Blue Devils. During a brief intermission in the varsity game, the traditional homecoming ceremony took place. Music and a routine was provided by the Marching Monesse, after which came the crowning of the 1972-73 Homecoming Queen, Miss Mary Storer es- corted by Don Murray. The queen's court and es- corts consisted of Conchita Damia, Dwight Colburn; Marcia Hiser, Floyd Mansberger; Chris Mollema, Mike Bourgeois; and Debbie St. Peter, Stan Zelhart. Attendants to the queen were: freshman Kathy Sted- man, Tim Cherry; sophomore Pearly Neblitt, Steve Sanders; and junior Phyllis Works, Don Douglas. Crowning Mary was the 1971-72 queen Mrs. Mary Tomaski Thompson and roses were presented by Brenda Cahill, Student Council president. Winding up the 1972 Homecoming activities was an open dance at the high school gym after the varsity game, in which the Redskins defeated the Blue Devils 24-13. Music was provided by Mind, Body and Soul.
