D A R E N L. C O X Daren Cox comes to Momence from La Harpe, Illinois, where he was principal for two years at La Harpe High School, He pre- viously taught at Pontiac High School and Cor- nell High School. Mr. Cox did his undergrad- uate and graduate work at the U of I, Western, and Illinois State. He and his wife Marcia have three children; Beth, Neal, and Mark. Mr. Cox's hometown is Fairbury, Illinois. About change, Mr. Cox said, ”1 believe that the change essential in public school edu- cation today must be one of modification, not complete transformation. By this 1 mean that certain phases of the total educational program must undergo some revision and updating to meet the present day needs of our complex so- ciety. An educational system isn't worth a great deal if it teaches young people how to make a living and doesn't teach them how to live. To the class of '72, Mr. Cox says, Jonus was an ancient Roman deity who had two faces and could look both ways at the same time. You may have wished that you, too, had the ability to see clearly both the future and the past as you face the many problems and rewards of your adult life. However, this is not possible and therefore you must apply that knowledge which you have ac- quired in the past twelve years to meaningful so- lutions in your everyday living and life goals.
