A MESSAGE TO THE CLASS OF 1969 - U Eggleston LAWRENCE P. EGGLESTON PRINCIPAL T. H. BARTHOLOMEW, SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS In this time of demonstration, dissent, unrest, and un- certainty, a moment of sober reflection is in order for the class of '69. In one sense tnere is not difference between this class and those which preceded it. Its members will scatter far and wide and will pursue a wide variety of occupations and endeavors. In another sense, however, there is a very real difference between the class of '69 and its predecessors. That difference is the world itself - its mood, its attitudes, its turmoil, all of which have changed radically in recent years. After reflecting upon this world, seniors, which you are now entering, my message is brief, sober, and to the point. Reflect long and seriously upon the challenges you face because they are as great or greater, as those ever faced by any class. What are these challenges? The needs to promote compassion, understanding, knowledge, and concern for our fellow man. These are the challenges. May you be equal to them and meet them with courage. 4
