Her name was always to be found on the Honor Roll. Marie's ability as a leader and organizer in our class has never been replaced. Her talent as a musician was regarded highly in our Department of Music. In our memories we will always remember loveable, smiling Marie as she entered our class room. BOARD OF EDUCATION Mi. LINN, JEWELER 7 Throughout our high school years, the Class of 1957 has shared many enriching experiences. We entered the portals of Momence High as the proverbial green freshies--a little awed by the upper- classmen, who seemed so sure of themselves. As the years went by, we gradually began to acquire some poise and confidence, and to realize that the seniors (believe it or not) are human. Now as seniors, we can look back through the years and reminesce about the good times and bad ... the freshman concessions at the games (which are profitable even through the hot dogs were sometimes cold); our sophomore carnival, which was enjoyed by all; and the dances in our junior year, which were quite successful (except for the one given plus a snowstorm and minus a band). And so, as we near the end of our journey, we realize that our days at M.C.H.S. will always hold a special place in our treasure chest of memories. This page is sponsored by ROBERT W1LLE, INC. The majority of the class first tasted school life in the old New Central building. Then when the district was consolidated we gained many new students from the surrounding country schools. When we reached the height of seventh grade our class was so large that we required three teachers. Then, with the addition of students from the academy, we became the first of the large classes to enter high school. As we look back on the good old days when we played kick baseball, little did we know that were sprouting such a fine group of athletes as John Bisher, Ed Carter, Lonnie Palmer, Jim High, Harry Turrell and others. The music classes of way back when have developed many members in chorus and band from our class. This year, led by our officers, Jim High, president; Kay Dionne, vice-president; Barbara Auld, secretary; Rosemary Sanders, treasurer, we have many interesting activities to look for- ward to and add to our store of memories. CLASS HISTORY Amid cheers and jeers the freshman class of 1956-57 entered Momence High School. Our class was led by President, Clyde Torp; Vice- President, Elaine O’Brien; Secretary, Sharon Ownbey; Treasurer, Joanne Kinney, Reporter, Stephen Lipnik. Freshmen definitely need to be advised; this job is in the capable hands of Miss Coontz, Mrs. Peterson, and Mr. Lister. The freshman class added their little bit to the football games by selling refreshments and by presenting the fans with the cheering of Joanne Kinney and Elaine O'Brien. We were represented at the homecoming by Linda Cote, who was attendent to the queen. We hope that Within four years our class will live up to the high ideals set by the past Momence High School students. Injury to just one player usually upsets the efficiency of the whole team. The Redskins this year consisted of many Sopho- more and Junior boys, which meant much inexper- ience. Twelve lettermen will return in the season of '57 to start off with that needed experience that hindered the '56 squad. As the season came to a close this year, although the wins were few, the spirit remained. Our coaches and team should be congratulated for their fine spirit and continued sportsmanship throughout the season. May they always remember the slogan they well abided by- Fight to the finish-never give up! This wasn't the year where victories were many in scores, but the team's determination and fighting spirit were victorious for them in developing good athletes. A team with good teamwork and fair play are a credit to any school. We are proud of the way our boys worked and we will be looking forward to next year's team.
