No rain, lost game As school carried on in its usual fashion, ir was interrupted very early in October by “ ... And Now We Interrupt Our Regular Programming. Homecoming Week hod arrived. At first there were spirit buttons to get the week “on the air. Tags were sold by student congress for carnation deliveries later in the week. There was a chance to guess the number of cereal or cookies in jars for cash; there was the hunt for colored pieces of paper coded with prizes from penals ro $100 cash. All the little things led up to Friday’s early dismissal for coronation. After the ceremony rhere was a break till 2:00 when the floors and bands starred rolling down 23rd Avenue in what Gary Bushman, congress adviser, called a people parade.” The wind confronted the parade, and the sky threatened, bur for the first rime in many years ir didn ' r rain. Rain did fall that night at the game, and so did the Maroons as they lost ro Rock Island. Saturday night it rained again, but it didn’t matter.
