An auto shop student gets some hands-on exper- Color graphics open another door to the world of computers for Anna Schnell. The counseling department uses them to help students prepare for ACT and ,SAT tests, search for the right college or career. and learn about financial aid. This year the business depart- ment purchasedu twenty new Apple computers, each with a printer and dual disk drive. They are used to teach students computer programming and word processing skills in several computer languages. For the first time MHS has a computer specialist, Mrs. Terry Gackle, who spends three hours a day qrl' the media center computers. T f' I, Industrial Arts classes make use of the new technology in the print shop for graphic arts, and the Art Department is branching out into computer art. The Social Studies Depart- ment added a course called Applied Economics which in- volves using computers. 5 W, QW 6 Opening e E 7

This new technology is great because ma- chines can almost take the place of humans by making calculations, helping students reach decisions, or even talking. Because of computers, students are offered a better education. -Chris Martin, Freshman With the increased number of computers we have at the school, more people can spend more time and experience using them which helps prepare them better for the new world of computer technology. -Drew Larsen, Senior A lot of jobs involve computers now and in the future the entire economy will be based on computers. For those of us in school now, we will have to have a basic knowledge of the machines to survive with the advancing technology. -Eric Haytcher, Junior Some students are instructed in basic computer usage.
