Senior Basketball HEAVYWEIGHT Never did Coach Edward Carlson's heavyweight senior team need the hacking of Old Lady Luck worse than in the semi-finals, hut that fickle lady refused to give them her sup- port and they were eliminated hy the up-and-coming juniors. The seniors played a fast and thrilling game, hut a series of clean pot-shots hy the juniors wrecked their hopes for the championship. Upper Row: Lundlaolm, Carlson. Coach, Rinehart Lower Row: Hansen, Carthey, Schacht Cl RLS Miss Severance. after weeks of hard training, led the senior girls into the Interclass Tour- nament and had the satisfaction of having them place lirst, lYitl1 the entire team playing ehanipionship haskethall, the seniors made a clean sweep of their games and vanquished the sophomore quintet in the final playoff. Conti teamwork and excellent hasket shooting char- acterized their playing through- Ullt lllc 'lllllff' tllllfllalllellt- UDDS1' Row: Weber, Wilson, Spratt, Livingston. Maves Lower Row: Johnson, Palmer, Dnehelliehn LILDHTXYEIGHT 'Tis an ill wind that blows nohody some gootlf' and the senior lightweight team would have heen happy if the winds of chance had only hlown more favorahly in their direction dur- ing the tournament. The team put up a good light, but the underclassmen seemed to have all the luck, and they were lin- ally forced into fourth place. HE.-XVYWEIGHT The Junior heavyweights up- held the honor of their class by annexing first place in the Interelass basketball tourney. Wfhen the final whistle blew. the log of Tournament rivalry showed the convincing total of three victories and one defeat for the juniors. The entire team worked with a precision and effectiveness that did credit to the conscientious and skillful coaching of Mr. Ekhlad. Junior Basketball Upper Row: Sehlotfeldt, Odean. Ekblad, Coach. Kurrle, Reimers Lower Row: Esterdahl, Laugman, Pierce, Wahe Upper Row: Boquist, Schidlofki Swim, Hunker, Johnson, Vance Lower Row: Engstrom, Runkel, Falk, Smith LIGHTXYEIGHT The Junior lightweight team, not to be outdone by their heav- ier classmates, galloped ahead of the last contender and won the lightweight championship. The team was given some anx- ious moments in the final play- off and Coach Ekblad anxiously awaited the outcome, but the quintet finally drew ahead and established its claim to the championship by a decisive vic- tory. GIRLS The junior girls after win- ning their first game by a deci- sive score, met hard luck and were eliminated in the semi- tinal game of the Tournament. The seniors had no easy time with the juniors and the sopho- mores were able to triumph by only a one-point margin. The team did credit to the skillful coaching of Miss Agnes Schid- lofski and Miss Myrtle Linder. They placed third in the tourn- ament.
