COCKRELL 2 Ella M. Cockrell As adviser and councilor of the An- nual, Line O' Type, and the Maroon and VVhite Handbook, Miss Cockrell has been most instrumental in maintaining a high standard in the publications of Moline High School. Evidence of the high place of journ- alism in the school, due in a large mea- sure to the guidance of Miss Cockrell, is furnished by the records in past years of Moline High School publications. The Annual was ranked as one of the ten best in the United States in its class, in a nation-wide contest conducted by the Central Interscholastic Press Association last year, while the Line O' Type for two successive years won the honor in state- wide competition, of being the second- best high school weekly in Illinois in its class. Dolph Lain . Back of the success of any literary contest and contestant lies efficient coach- ing. Moline High School is fortunate in having for its coach of the cleclamation, debate and extempore teams, Dolph Lain, whose work in training our contestants has contributed greatly to the victories won by Moline speakers. Mr. Lain has been instructor in Pub- lic Speaking for two years. During this short time Moline has placed in two Big Eight contests. Boys' Declam- ation in 1923 and Girls' Declamation in 1925. Our teams have also won two tri- angular struggles, Boys, Declamation in 1924 and Girls' Declamation in 1925. LAIN 116
