Inter-Class Track Meet The annual interclass track meet was held April 2 and 3 in the High School gym- nasium. There was a complete schedule of indoor events for boys and girls and competition was quite keen, despite the fact that in some of the events there were only a few contenders. To start the meet Mable Johnson, '26, won first place in the girls' 20-yard dash, setting a new record of 3 1-4 seconds. Carlmark, '27, placed second and Rohrer, '26, third. In the boys' ranks, Sam Whitfield, '37, did the stretch in 2 -L-5 seconds, while Carlson, '25, and Thomas, '27, tied for second. Mabel Johnson annexed another first place by doing the 50-yard dash in 7 1-5 seconds. Maves, '25, and Stormont, '27, tied for second place. Thomas and VVhitheld tied for first place in the 220-yard dash, while Schultz and Art Larson of the '26 class tied for third. The time, 28 seconds, was 3-5 of a second behind the record made by Vic Esterdahl last year. Steffanson, '25, jumped a height of 5 feet I5 3-4 inches in the high jump for first honors. Tom Larson, '26, and Aultman, '28, took second and third respectively. Buck. '25, won the mile run. Rinehart, '26, pleced second and Charlie Larson, '26, third. Time, 5 minutes 313 seconds. Vance. '26, took the girls' basketball throw, with Mayes, '25, second, and T. johnson '26, third. Distance 68 feet. The -140-yard dash was run in 66 1-5 seconds by Art Larson, '26. Cowley, '28, and liuttler, '27, took second and third respectively. The hop, step and jump went to the seniors. Buck won with a leap of 3:5 feet 4 1-2 inches. VV. Johnson and Ingram placed second and third. Kachevas, '28, ran the girls' 100-yard dash in 14 2-5 seconds. Stormont, '25, took second, and VVilson, '25. and johnson, '26, tied for third. In the boys' event Ingram and Whitfield tied the record made by Vic Esterdahl by circling the lap and a half in 12 seconds. A. Larson placed third. The shot put belonged exclusively to the seniors. Sandstrom heaved the shot for -12 feet 5 1-2 inches, and won first place. Erickson and Carlson claimed second and third. Buck again took hrst place when he ran the half mile in 2 minutes 26 -I-5 seconds. Rinehart and C. Larson, juniors, took second and third. Dennhardt, a freshman, won the pole vault with a mark of 9 feet 1 inch. Ellstrom and Servine of the sophomores took second and third. In the girls' relay fone lap eachl the seniors and sophomores tied for first, while the juniors placed third. Time 41 23-5 seconds. In the boys' event ttwo laps each? the sophomores took first, the seniors second, and the juniors third. Time 1 minute 8 -I-.3 seconds. The seniors were the winners of the meet, scoring 51 1-2 points, the sophomores followed with 41 points and the juniors with 137 1-2. The freshmen made but 14 points. This was the seniors' fourth consecutive championship. Buck was chief point winner for the boys, totaling 15 points, while Mabel Johnson led the girls with 11 points. 107
