Parades and band shows for the home football games were the activities which made the auturnnal season the busiest and most colorful of the school year, During the winter season, a pep band working in conjunction with the pep club helped the Hornet basketball squad along their way to the completion of a successful campaign. In the spring the fancy of the Moline band members turned to thoughts of music festivals. The band com- peted in the District music contest, and later participated in a festival at Grenola, Kansas, which featured the combined music groups of four schools of Elk County under the direction of guest conductors. Miss Carol Hopper was the Hornet band's Drum Majorette for the '55 marching season. The band was under the direction of Robert M. Ferguson.
