S N Dennis Philpot The Dybvad Scholarship a- ward of 34,500 was presented to a future student of mechan- ical engineering at OSU, Den- nis Philpot. Mr. Tom Dybvad gave Dennis the certificate which entitles him to receive this sum during the next four years while he is attending the four-year college in Corvallis. Dennis has been a member of Injuneer's Club and Ski Club at MUHS. He has served as student body treasurer this past year, and been a member of the High-Q team. He has been a member of the boys' tennis team, lettering each year. He was in leadership class first semester, and poli- tical participation the last. His classes included trigono- metry, chemistry, physics, cal- culus, government, Research paper, speech, and science fic- tion. Selected Boy of the Month for May for the trait of schol- arship, Dennis also wore hon- or cords at graduation because of his grades during the four years at Molalla. She has been working for over a year and a half at the Silver- ton Nursing Home as a nurse's aide. She would 'like to com- bine the smdies for a future career in a doctor's office. She has had a busy four years at Molallag belonging to Language Club, yearbook staff assisted with the senior edit- ion of the War Whoop, senior breakfast, homecoming float, spaghetti dinner, and political participation breakfast. He has l chairman of the canned food drive, founder and cl man of the Paramount party, and a member of o committees. Slei club, two years of FFA, Orange and the male lead in the musical comedy, Gypsy, sented this year. Athletics has involved a large part of his school ti for he participated in football, basketball and four y of varsity tennis. In football he was voted to the Coast Valley League team. Classes this year included English research paper, 4 sics, trigonometry, calculus, world cultures and let ship. Ann Schlimgen was presented with the Indian Ma trophy and plaque at graduation, May 30. Interested physical therapy, Ann may attend Pacwc University Forest Grove, where she has been awarded Honors Entrance. Student Council, senior class secretary, stage band pep band, Girls' League, GAA, Ski Club, Language Club and High-Q have kept her busy during high school. Sh also participated in varsity tennis for two years, and w basketball statistician for four years. She was a winner i the Voice of Democracy contest. Annls classes included Calculus, Trigonometry, Phy sics, Psychology, with four years in Concert Band. She was announced this year's winner of the john Phili Sousa award at the spring band concert. She was selected as an Oregon Scholar by the Gover- nor of the state and wore honor cords at graduation de- noting four years of high scholarship. Lkrfl Ken Ohta Freda Howard Audrey Amaya I l Danforth Awards are given annually to students because their outstanding personal, physical, mental, social and aracter development. This year Ken Ohta, Freda Howard and Audrey Amaya re selected. Ken is interested in continuing his wrestling career, so he pes to major in physical education. He is planning to attend wis and Clark College in Portland and spend time in the as of photography, architecture and law before making a eer choice. Freda has been a senior class denator and a junior class al- ate to student council. She has participated in anumber clubs and was recently one of four state chairpeople from lalla at the National Mock Democratic Convention held in Memorial Coliseum in Portland in May. She plans to study nursing with a scholarship from the lalla Grange. Audrey has assisted with activities of the AFS Club and rked on their float. She participated in the Big-Little Sis- party as a junior and helped with senior hall decorations homecoming. She was recently selected as a princess for the junior-Se- r Prom which was held in Apeil at CCC. The Molalla Area Teachers' Association this year awarded scholarships in the amount of 35175 to Susan Clack and Deb- bie Gardner. The faculty scholarship committee members made the selection. Susan plans to major in mathematics and chemistry in a pre- medicine program. She has received honors at entrance from Linfield College at McMinnville. She has also received a Na- tional Merti Letter of Commendationand the Betty Crocker Family Leader of Tomorrow award. Activities are second nature to her and included, powder- puff football, basketball, volleyball and gymnastics, skits, floats, senior breakfast and political participation. Debbie Gardner is going to enter Lewis and Clark college in the fall to begin a course in socialogy and psychology which she hopes will help her to reach her present goal of a social work. She spent her junior year as Rotary exchange student in Denmark and in 1974 she won the Voice of Democracy speech contest. BAUSCH AND LOMB AWARDED Mark Gordon Mark Gordon, winner of the Bausch and Lomb sci- ence award, was also the Oregon state winner of the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America competition. He will go to Florida in june to compete in the contest to decide the na- tional champions. Mark's area of specialization is in radio and TV repair. 29
