Through this open door we see a path That winds as the years unfold, We shall iourney along--on our lips a song, We face all with our hearts so bold. We face these years ahead of us With memories so happy and gay-- Ou' Teachers, our friends and our classmates all, Studies, parties, classes and play. We love the dear school days gone by, And loyal to them, we shall be, The lessons you've taught and the goodness you 've brought Will brighten our future with glee. FOl'CWOI'Cl For the future we face--and face it we must, The path we shall walk with firm tread, Unfaltering steps, strengthened by faith Shall stand each of us in good stead. As our future begins, and we bid you farewell, Our hearts ring out boldly in song, Bidding us all to hasten forth lnto a world we shall help to make strong. Forward we go in search of good-- Out toward the golden rule, Toward hopes, toward courage, toward faith, and toward trust, As we say goodbye dear old school. You will linger forever in thoughts of pure gold, May our loyalty, always be true, Your banner we II hold, dear orange and black As we bow and say fondly 'Adieul . A .Liar so ,,,, ti-it , , It-try fn W W We dedicate this 53 ' Arrow to all the boys and girls from Molalla Union High School who are serving in any branch of the United States Armed Forces throughout the duration of the Korean conflict. ln this strange victory that must be won lt takes your youth, your strength of heart and mind, Your valor and your courage and your might To bring to pass the miracle of peace. And may the Good Lord watch over and keep you, and those who go with vou as the guard- ians of American freedom, until the day when we shall thank God for peace and a safe home- coming. These pictures represent only a few of those who are in the Armed Forces from Molalla High. We were sorry we could not have every one, but we wish to thank all those who contrib- uted the pictures for this page. The Principal's Message Each year we work faithfully and diligently to record our activities in the form of an annual. During the last few days of May, when school is about to close, we realize that the Seniors will be with us no more. To the Seniors I extend the hope that you will be successful in whatever you choose to do. l know you leave a chdllenge to the underclassmen. Many of you will decide to establish a home within the next few years. l hope you will remember that the influence of a home has long been recognized as a powerful force in the life of a nation. Now that our school is closing, it is time to let your parents know how much you appreciated having a good home. Warren S. The highlight of our Junior year was the riotous play, lf You Knew Susie , followed close- ly by the Junior-Senior Prom, its theme being Treasure lsland. The team opened this season with high hopes of winning the Willamette Valley League champ- ionship. After winning over strong teams in the pre-season games and achieving five straight league victories, this goal seemed within its grasp. However, illness and iniuries took a hand, and when the hard luck omen disappeared, the Indians had to be content with second place in the league. This team showed its potential greatness by defeating West Linn and Lake Oswego, two highly favored ball clubs,in the district play-off. Fans, sports writers, and students cheered the Indians for their great effort. ln the finals the boys put on a terrific show against Milwaukie, and only Lady Luck kept them from going to the state tournament--the score was so close. Coach Gronquist considers this year's team the best club he has had in five years at Molalla. He would have been proud to have gotten them into the state tournament, as he knew they would have made a creditable showing for the school and the community. He feels that they did a hard iob and did it well. H B Squad Basketball Seated: C. Sarty, T. Brownhill, H. Simi, R. Towell, W. Aho, R. Lewis. Standing: K. Naylor, J. Bye, D. Parker, D. Moger, D. This record placed them in second place behind Dallas, which had a I2 won - 2 lost record. The boys' most cherished victory was over this same champion, Dallas, in the next to the last game of the season. The team progressed rapidly as the season went along, losing its first three games in a raw and then winning ten out of the last eleven, beating Woodburn 50 - 37 in the final game. The boys who put in the most playing time under actual game conditions were: David Parker, Dewayne Parker, .lack Bye, Wally Aho, Ronald Lewis, Donald Moger, Kenneth Naylor, Dennis Peeples, Tim Brownhill, and Ronald Towell. The first home track meet in five years was held at Molalla this year. Molalla has been strong in track in the Willamette Valley League and has made a good show- ing everi though we have no real track on which to practice. Outstanding from among the forty-five boys who turned out for track were: George Krupicka, Tim Brownhill, David Hagen, Roger Phelps, Arnold Collins, Wally Aho, and Bill Morgan. The Indians competed against West Linn, Canby, Newberg, and Lake Oswego in dual meets. They also entered the Hayward Relays, the Willamette Relays, the Canby Relays, the W.V.L. League Meet at Willamette University, the District Meet at Salem, and the State Track Meet at Corvallis. New track suits and warm-ups have added greatly to the interest in track among the boys and have helped the boys make a good showing for themselves and the school. I , A fs, Q V 1 'Q . 'Uy 2, .
