ALICE FRANK Foreword You must listen and know That we are the trees... For in our sighs and soft-breathed murmurings We bear the record of the things past. And while time is steadily, stealthily moving on We reach out - and grasp those forms and atmospheres Which you may have forgotten... Listen to us... We are the trees... We are the pillars of memory... Dedication We proudly dedicate this 1952 Arrow to the Seniors of M. U. H. S., who have in the past four years worked and planned for the future in which they will be the men and women of the nation who will lead others toward even higher goals. Expected to see plen- ty of action for the Indians this season are the following boys: CATCHERZ PITCHER! FIRST BASE! SECOND BASE! THIRD BASE! SHORT STOP! OUTFIELDI Stan Childers - A sophomore with fine possibilities of developing into one of the finest catchers in the Willamette Vallei League. Fred Sandgren - A big right handed chucker with the ability to bring the Indians the league championship. Fred is a junicr and one of the better pitchers in high school circles. David DeF'rates - A lefthanded sophomore with fine possibilltiesof being good success- or to Sandgren. Dave has the heart and the hustle it takes to make a real ball player. He may also see some outfield action thoughout the season. Jim Hall - A veteran senior letterman who has shown good prospects of being a real hust- ler arolmd the initial sack. Don Case - Also a senior and an all around athlete. Don handles himself very well on first base but is such a precision fly chaser that he may see most of his action in right field. John Camp - John is known as the biggest little second baseman in the business. His continuous hustle and excellent fielding ability more than make up for what he lacks in size. Ken Kraxberger - A fine hustler and a continuous chatterbox with the one big capability of never giving up. Kr-ax could hardly be counted out of any high school team and is sure to get plenty of baseball in this year. U Clarence Crick - A senior with not too much experience but has shown continuous im- provement as the season has progressed. He's rugged and loves the game. These are musts at third base. Lorin Wrolstad - A diminutive junior with enough of the old vinegar to keep him from tak- a back seat to anyone. An excellent-all around utility man. Joe Schaefer - The outstanding inflelder of the club and one of the most rromlsing hit- ters ln this league this year. Joe is expected to turn in a. perfmrmance that spcrts fans will talk about long after he has left high school circles. He is the tea.m's spark plug and playing captain and may see action in the professional ranks after his graduation. The only regrets this school has is that Joe is a senior and will leave us this year. Charles Dougherty - A left handed senior who covers a mile of grass in the outer gar- dens of the diamond. A fine hustler and a boy that will be missed in years to come. Leonard F'eyer - A sophomore centerfielder who shows much rromise of being one of the team's better hitters. A tough boy to beat when he sets his mind to the job. Dick Lais - A senior and one of the bigger men on the club. Dick seems to be taking his baseball seriously this year and could develop into the club's best long ball hit- ter. - Other boys who could and may break into the varsity lineup anytime during the season are Jerry Dietz, pitcher - Dewayne Vetter, an outfielder who is sure to see plenty of action before this season is concluded - Jim Alexander, pitcher - Charles Cason, third base - La.rry Bentley, pitcher and outfielder.
