OLIVER Z RL wnfigig -4x8-I G:-1' I-5'-ff IUNIOR CLASS HISTORY lhree years ago this present -lunior class came into being. XVe were a shy and quiet group but we soon outgrew that. Alter the Iirst Iew days of walking around in a daze and not knowing whether we should be upstairs or downstairs: studying English or slaving through algebra, we began letting the other classes know we were around. 'l'he Iirst thing we did was to elect our class olficers. Melvin Peterson was elected president: Richard Bosvert, vice-president: Barbara Larson, secretary: Ethel Heino, treasurer: and Edward Bennett, committeeman. Most of us man- aged to survive the ordeal ol' being a rook and we were very happy when summer came and we could give our poor overworked brain a rest. In our Sophomore year we got oll' to a good start by electing Richard Bosvert, president: Melvin Peterson, vice-president: XVanda Blattman. secretary: Billie Ruth Philpot, treasurer: and Stuart Mcliinnis, executive committeeman. Mle were well repre- sented in band, orchestra, sports and other organizatirms. As .juniors we were much more sure ol' ourselves than when we Iirst entered high school and we realized our importance as a class and as individuals. lVe were also aware of the Iact that more responsibility was placed upon tts. Our oflicers this year are: I.. XV. Owens, president: Barbara Larson. vice-president: Margueritte Qlensen, secretary: -lean Schriever, treasurer: and Billie Ruth Philpot. committeeman. Some ol the important events ol' the year were the Iormal dance which the luniors gave the Seniors: a skating party. and a play presented on May IT under the direction ol' Mrs. O'Connor. The outstanding .junior boys in sports this year were Richard Marquardl. Melvin Peterson. -lames Marquardt, Edgar Coulson. Pat Giehlyn, Patil Matovitch, L. IV. Owens. led Strankman and Raymond Zielinski. Members ol' our class who have been prominent on the honor roll are: Edgar Coulson. Arleta james, Virginia Russell. Lavonne Sowa, and lean Schriever. XYe are very proud ol' I'our ol' the boys from the .Iunior class who have joined the armed services, but we are sorry that they could not have stayed long enough to linish school. 'Ilhree ol' the boys, Richard Bosvert. Melvin Peterson, and Howard Love. are in the Merchant Marines and Earl Sievers enlisted in the Navy.
