The F, T, A, is an organization which aims to strengthen the moral, mental, physical, and spiritual Values of the high school students who are planning to enter the field of teaching, This group also aids worthy students with a minor scholarship program. This year the F. H, A, selected for its theme Hi Neighbor which emphasized getting along with people around the world. As a Christmas project the club sent a gift of money to a needy Japanese child. At one meeting a guest speaker showed slides of her visit to J apan. The Japanese theme was also carried out in the annual style show. A mother-daughter tea was held with the eighth grade girls and their mothers as guests. Holmes Liberty Chapter was also guests of the club. OFFICERS President .... .. Vice-President , . Notionol Honor Society SEATEDg Janet Swerline, Karen Nlebel, Loretta Miller, Carol Schalk, Karen Carr, Ruth Taylor, Beth Barton, STANDING: Jackie Miller, Sandra Kagy, Don Gottfried, Medard Ruehle, Jim Mullholand, Phillip Honsberger, Wayne Moorhead, David Dayton, Joan Beitler, Sharon Beard, DaLee Honsberger, The National Honor Society is an organization devoted to the recognition of those students who repre- sent the fundamental objectives for which schools are instituted. The four objectives are character, scholar- ship, leadership, and service. Each spring a tapping ceremony is held. In this ceremony new members are tapped and then light their candle symbolizing their worthiness of this high honor. Each member repre- sents the high qualities of the society and must always attain them. The emblem of the society is a keystone and a flaming torch which represents truth and knowledge. Each member pledges: I pledge myself to uphold the high purposes of this society to which I have been elected striving in every way by word and deed to make its ideals the ideals of my life and my school.
