The members of this Club take positions as sub- stitute teachers and are in charge of the school activities sign. The club featured guest speak- ers on the latest teaching methods and field trips to universities to study the educational facilities available to today's student. The Club is dedicated not just to the making of tomorrow's teachers, but to helping today's student decide his future profession. We hope to make the complex decisions of the high school student's future a bit easier. With Bro. James Letostak as moderator, sue; cessful operations such as a massive tutoring program and in Class observations of teaching methods were made possible. Any student ine terested in the teaching profession or just un- decided about his future would find this club extremely rewarding. Russell and Schulhoff plan their future. Founded in 1967, the purpose of the Geology Club is to give Earth Science students the op- portunity to see geological formations in the immediate area. Bro Bernard Hartman moder- ated the 1968-69 Chapter with Gary Woebken- berg as student. The first part of the year was spent at John Bryant Park, Ky. , Big Bone, Ky. , and Natural Bridge, Ky. Our purpose was to collect fossil specimens in the Kentucky area and to cate- gorize fossils to show the past history of the state. An investigation was made of the geological formations in Ohio and Indiana to study forma- tions and collect first hand specimens. The investigation included trips to southern Indiana to study the formation of geodes and natural caves, to several gravel pits, the Mill Creek River, the Little Miami River and the Old Man's Cave area. Joseph Clark and Mr. Raymond Sweigart, was undoubtedly one of the most active organizations at Moeller. The purpose of the organization is to develop Within the stu- dent the ability to speak logically, clearly and effectively in a given situation. Through his participation in speech and debate activities, the student inevitably gains a certain self-con- fidence that helps him tremendously in his day to day life. The club members began their season early in October and were kept very busy until about the middle of March. The participants com- peted on one of two levels, either Varsity or Novice, and throughout the year they Visited tournaments 0n the tri-state area. In addition, the club members attended two overnight tournaments this year that took them hundreds of miles from the school. This year the Debate team of Greg Kunkel, Joe Budd, Frank Sieber, and Steve Simendinger finished second in the Ohio High School Speech League District Tour- nament and fifth in the state. Speech members Mike Heitzman and Greg Swinarski placed in the Districts and journeyed to the State Tour- nament also. At least twice a month members take orphans to different places such as the neighborhood pony keg, football games, swimming, and home. The Big Brother Program has helped great- ly in the normal development of boys growing in an unnatural surrounding. DRAMA CLUB The Moeller Drama Club presented four One Act plays in December and a three act comedy in April. The pure pose of the December production was to give the large number of actors their hour Tor at least a couple of minutesT on the stage. The four plays presented were: A PLOT TO ASSAS- SINATE THE CHASE MANHATTEN BANK; J. CA ESAR; PIERRE PATELIN; THREE BLIND MEN. The April production was Steven Ge- thers' off -Br0adway comedy A COOK FOR MR. GENERAL. The cast of thirty-three men was the largest cast play produced at Moeller to date. Under the direction of two capable mod- erators, Mr. Charles Blanford and Sister Rose Joseph, the club had some very suc- cessful meetings. The Spanish Club had a panel discussion that involved exchange students from Spanish speaking countries and other nations as well. LIBRARY STAFF The library staff exists to help the students and faculty of Moeller to find information lo- cated in the library. This the staff does by preparing books for circulation, returning books to the shelves, taking care of back is- sues of magazines and keeping the shelves in order. In preparing books for use, the members of the staff affix the ownership stamp and the pockets; they put the typed catalog cards into alphabetical order, preliminary to filing in the card catalog. During the past year they pre- pared over 900 books for circulation, returned hundred to the shelves, and located and re- placed dozens of periodicals. Dave Fuhrman, Matt Brennan, Tom Fuhrman.
