The shadow of the original Sycamore tree is symbolic of the traditions and of the many students who have helped to establish them. The shadows on this page typify the I c asses of Modesto High School as they are guided by the ever present shadow of the Sycamore tree. WE COME as new students eager to make new acquaintances and strengthen old friendships. We establish new ideas and concepts which become a vital part of our lives. We come to know the importance of education as it molds our patterns of thought. WE SEE and meet many able teachers, each, endeavoring to guide us to meaning- ful and enriched lives. We see the importance of our individual roles in carrying out and understanding old traditions at MHS while establishing new ones. We see evidence of-a well-balanced and' closely-knit student body by each student's willingness to participate in school functions. ' P WE LEARN' educational subjects which are vital to our chosen vocations We learn the principles of fair play and democracy through curricular and extra-curricular activi- ties. Also, we learn the-privileges as well as the responsibilities of becoming active citi- zens in our community and nation. Truly, it can be saidxthat WE COME - WE SEE - WE LEARN is symbolic of every MHS student.

Seniors extend Sycamore shadow as footsteps make final echo Soon the footsteps of the graduates of 1960 will echo down the halls of Modesto High School, and their shadows will be seen for the last time etched against the walls. As the seniors walk through the main entrance such memories as the Turkey Trot, the Junior-Senior Prom, the CCC Football Championship, and the senior play will race through their minds to linger there in reminiscence of good times. When the final bell rings and with their diplomas in their hands, the graduates of 1960 will be able to say WE CAME-WE SAW-WE LEARNED. Danny L. Allsup Lynden T.
