Iohn traveled to Iowa City on March 29 to win the indoor championship and won the outdoor title at Boone on May 17. He was second place finisher in the state meet as a junior. Iohn was also proficient in the discus, having won third place in the state meet as a junior. This year he won the district meet but just missed qualifying for the finals in the state meet. John also placed in the broad jump and the shot put in 'several meets this year. He attended 9 track meets this year setting S new track records. .
