Florida in 1963 earning his wings in December 19611 The Captain has flown with several attack squadrons. flying the A1H Skyraider. AA Skyhawk and the A7E Corsair He served as Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of Attack Squadron 147 From 1980 to 1983. Captain Gubbins served as the Attack Programs Officer on the Staff of the Director of Strike and AfTlQfllDlOUS Warfare QOP-9545 in Washington. D C, He has served as the Operations Officer on board the USS DWK3-HT D EVSENHOWETP QCVN-695 and as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Plans for Commander, Battle Force SIXTH Fleet fCommander Carrier Group TWO Captain Gubbins returned to the OPNAV Staff in Washington, DC. in 1985 as the Director of the Technical Support Group ln February 1987, Captain Guboins assumed command ot TNG USS MOBILE QLKA 1155 home- ported at Naval Station. Long Beach. California The Captain's awards include YDS Legion of Merit with one star. Distinguished Ftying Cross with three stars, Meritorious Service Medal with four stars plus twenty-nine strike flight awards. Navy Achievement Medal with Combat V and four stars and the Navy Achievement Medal. Captain Gubbins and his wife, Christine. have four daughters, Jennie fEnsign, MC.
