rn ' ' K Automotlve-Dlesel Students pply Classroom Knowledge to Shop Work The Automotive-Diesel Department prepares the students for the automotive, truck, and farm equip- ment service business. During the first year, class and laboratory training familiarize them with the operation, construction, repair standards, and required admustments. In the second year the students do actual repair work like they will be encountering on the job. Members of the class toured the john Deere Plant in Waterloo, Iowa, and various business places in Mitchell. The class sold chances on how long an old Olds- mobile would nm at full throttle. A large crowd turned out to Watch as the car died after about seven minutes. Every year plymouth sponsors a Trouble Shooting contest for high school and post-high teams. The VoTech team accompanied by advisor Jerry Buch- holz, attended the contest at Bismark, North Dakota, where a team from North Dakota Vo- Tech won. The high school competition was held at Mitchell with the Lincoln High School team taking first place. 53
