CLASS OFFICERS: Randy Barta, Nolan Kleinsasser, Lyle Dewald, Darrel Sem- mler, Lyle Lingernann, jack Smith. Producing Competent Technicians in Architectural-Building Architectural-Building finds its greatest expression in residential and com- mercial building, and although it is one of the oldest of arts, its basic principles have changed little with the passing of time. A man may build however his fancy may dictate. For this reason, practically every building has it series of problems. The main objective of the two-year program is to produce a compe- tent technician in the field of Architectural-Building. The first year program is divided equally between the drafting and building construction. The students are taught basic drawing techniques and progress into a multipaged complete set of working drawings for a residential structure. The efforts in the construction shop mesh closely with those in the drawing room. Many of the drawings completed by the students are used as actual plans for the building projects. Usually, each year the students will complete four to six single stall garages and one three-bedroom residential building. The second year objective is to apply the theory learned in the first year to practical work-a-day laboratory and onsite experiences. Concrete and masonry skills will be taught to build a foundation for the framing skills learned the ,,, prior year. A three-bedroom home will be completed onsite from foundation to , f' cabinets. In addition, the students will complete a commercial building plan ' and receive survey courses in the fields of engineering, electricity, pltunbing, and heating plus taking surveying, welding, retail management and building estimating courses of smdy.
