Jack Sturgis finds center on the stack while Don Felton, Norman Pearson, and Mr. Jacobs watch. Ralph Lyman, Herb Scott Jerry Pattison, and M Jacobs work on milling machine. N... oaafionaf agafloof Mitchell's progressive school system, recognizing the need tor vocational education as a part of a balanced curriculum, in i944 accepted the vocational school located at 620 North Kittridge Street. This school is being operated in cooperation with the State Board for Vocational Education with Emil Schmierer as local supervisor. At the present time two courses are offered, They are machine shop and radio electronics and repairs. The courses are set up on a trade basis requiring three consecutive hours of attendance daily, averaging approxi- mately one hour daily for related and technical instruction, There courses may be taken either on a semester or a yearly basis. The student earns one credit per semester. The radio department is under the supervision ot Donald Coats and the machine shop under Thomas Jacobs. Both departments offer thorough trade training in their respective fields. Mr. Coats instructs Alan Hersey, Derril Findley, Ralph Dickinson, , LuVerne Goldhommer, and Lloyd Phillips in use of radio equipment. Students at work in the machine shop.
