Sunshine Society The Sunshine Society, since its organization on November 9, 1929, has been one of the most prominent clubs of Mitchell High School. lts purpose is to spread sunshine and to give each girl a definite organization to which to belong. Each year the club has a very impressive initiation for the new members. The new girls are given ribbons of yellow and white. The yellow stands for the sun and the white stands for purity. They are also given small candles to represent the warmth and the light of the sun. The club has for many years provided for the care and maintenance of the rest room. This year we bought Venetian blinds to help brighten up our room. Our club took an active part in the drive against tuberculosis, purchased some material to be used in bettering our girls' dressing room, and bought a popcorn machine for the school. This year we sponsored a style show for all the girls and their mothers. The show, which was held April 25, included a wartime wardrobe for students made from patterns by all pattern companies. We hope the Sunshine Society will continue to spread rays of sunshine throughout Mitchell High.
