The High School Band September, 1943, found a good enrollment for the Mitchell High School Band. The students came in good spirits, and the band was off to a good season. Those who were in the band the preceding year were missed, but new members were present to make their contribution to the music life of Mitchell High School. Early in the season new music was obtained, which helped the morale of the organization. Everyone worked zealously at the job of preparing good programs for the basketball games. These programs brought forth many commendable ex- pressions from the spectators. When the basketball season closed a choice selection of concert music was on hand and all members of the band went to work with enthusiasm to prepare for the annual spring concert, to be given May Sth in observation of Music VVeek. The original members of the band had learned enough of the fundamentals of music that they were able to make an intelligent approach to their band work. The band made exceptional prog- ress and is now capable of playing good quality music. New members are being added frequently. This is encouraging because it assures the perpetuation of our band program on a high plane. The juniors prepared some excellent numbers for the annual spring concert and contributed their bit in providing entertainment for the music lovers of our community. Row 1-W. Holt, G. Ramey, C.
