The place was noT very roomy and was compleTely wiThouT cheer: We could only see The cigar smoke We could only smell The beer. When inTo The room came a sailor in a manner raTher crude and greeTed The gaThered paTrons wiTh words'raTher rude. We knew The cad was Trouble as he sTood There wiTh a sneer and pulled a kniTe Trom his pockeT and cuT oTT a Tellow's ear. Someone began To holler, Someone began To shouT For Benny The barroom bouncer To Take care oT This louT. lnTo The hall came Benny, a big and sT.urdy mick: The sailor Took a look aT Benny and knew This was The one To lick. Onward he charged The bouncer wiTh a greaT and TearTul roar, BuT Benny grabbed his collar and heaved him ouT The door. Up and ouT wenT The swabbie. so high he did soar, and when he Tinally landed, he did noT reTurn Tor more.
