Booters display traditional will to win Compiling an impressive record of nine wins in eleven regular season games, the 1967 Mitchell College Soccer Team once more proved that they have the indomitable will to win traditionally displayed by our bcoters. While they failed to topple the tough competition in the Region 15 post-season tourney for the second year, they never lost the spirit of fair play and the love of competition that has always characterized M.itchell's intercollegiate teams. OH to a strong start with a shutout opener against Leicester, the Pequots followed up by blanking the UConn. frosh, 2-O. In the third game, however, the booters suc- cumbed to their old foe, Staten Island, going down in a hard fought battle, 2-1. The Pequots, undaunted by this setback, went on to win their next six contests by wide margins. The tenth game proved to be the most difficult of the season as the Red and White suffered a 3-0 shutout at the hands of their toughest opponent, Nassau Community College. The Hnal game saw the Pequots crown their regular season with an impressive victory over Bridgeport U. and an invitation to the Regionals. Although the Pequots failed in their bid to bring home the Regional laurels, they nevertheless had a season and a record to be proud of. Under the demanding leadership of Coach Warren Swanson and his dedicated staff the Mitchell Soccer Team showed lhat they have the coaching, the ability and the desire to recapture the National Championship which they First won in 1962.
