The duties and activities of this organization are many. One of these duties is to exercise a general supervision over student activities. Another duty is to supervise all elections involv- ing the vote of the entire student body and all class elections. The Student Council publishes The Student Hand- book and any other publication that the administra- tion advises. They examine and make recommendations on all expenditures or appropriations of money to organi- zations with recognized budgets. Thamesana, the Mitchell newspaper, is issued monthly by a very zealous stall. This stall is composed of students who volunteer their time to getting the news, editing, copywriting, proofreading and typing. The main objective of our newspaper is to provide the students and faculty with information about school personalities and activities. Every year the Thamesana stall sponsors the May Weekend. CBack Rowlz Coach Locke, T. Hart, R. Jones, W. Bazemore, J. Pearson, Manager F. Fortune. Absent are D. Killeen, R. DeGaetano. Playing for the first time under the leadership of Coach Lawrence Locke, to date the Mitchell team has won six games and lost seven. This year is Mr. Locke's initial performance as a coach. He has worked ex- tremely hard, putting all his time and efforts into scheduling games and preparing the team for their oncoming competition. His efforts are being rewarded, for the team is producing a Hne record. Although the team has not been victorious in all their games, the hne spirit shown by both the coach and the team has been excellent. This year the team has embarked on the largest and heaviest schedule that they have had in previous years. A tall team represents Mitchell with Dan Killeen, Tom Hart, Bob Jones, and Bill Bazemore all averaging six feet and over. Dan Killeen, who has played exceptionally well all year, has an outstanding record of playing every minute of every game. Against Willimantic State Teacher's College, Tom Hart put in an individual performance by scoring 36 points. The team started off by losing six games but came back in fine form, winning six straight games. After being handed a 91-46 defeat at the hands of Nichols junior College, we came back remarkably, being de- feated by only a few points in the very last minutes of the game - the final score being 70-65. One of the main factors that brought the team to a near victory was the fine school spirit shown by the students and faculty. At this point in the season, the Mitchell team is looking forward to attending the New England junior College Invitational Tournament on March 13, 14, and 15. 46 if ftnw nssseetlt r5.4-5e-11-ffr1414 l I l l J 1' 1-MZ' Mitchell H H H il n H H fl 91 n H H BASKETBALL 45 46 54 45 44 52 66 59 50 68 33 75 65 Hillyer Nichols junior College St. Thomas Seminary Waterbury U-Conn Holyoke Sub Base Raiders Navy Personnel Sub Base Raiders New Haven State Teachers College Willimantic State Teachers College Hillyer Clost by defaultj St. Thomas Seminary Nichols Junior College ,ir 11,515 4 Nllil 5 ' egg 0: 4 I ,Ari Maw, l , A , . - Dff f 4 v Offhff' km' WU MSWBH ro iff You fonvfd 1 an nfffifm N Rggerkcflff convfmim n zo gfl W of Remlm Afrrrnhl si hifi IM W ' Editor of 'Ik 5 melli has M! 0 also said dur Dm with B Bti T: BlZE1HOIE.fL'Zf I fffflfd ezexrwt 1 don in lov: Sm Fred johmx stat: My receivgf 3,3 PEHCU I Have pg: gn.: 505 W mi 225 I the T Mundell 5? -L az 1 fume H517 -' 1 U . We began talking about former students and what they were doing in this line year of 1974. I thought this would be an excellent chance to let you know how everyone is progressing. Don Graff, Sam Faulice, and Ray Panciera have formed a new atomic powered bus line through Con- necticut. At this time, George Zurles came into Roger's oflice to buy some stock, and he joined in the conversation. The office boy just went across the street to get some coffee at joe Schlachter and Dick Eppler's Restaurant. After talking, George mentioned that Ron Trabul- si had taken over Cardinal Ties, Inc., Al Adams is now Editor of The New London Day, and Charlie Par- melli has finally obtained his PhD in Skiing 116. He also said that Don Havens has finally obtained great wealth as Bee Tender of Eastern Connecticut. Bill Bazemore, james Orlando, and Bob jones have been elected executives of the National Hot-Rod Associa- tion in Lower Slobovia. I also received a letter from Fred johnson stating that he and Doug Clarke have finally received their Doctorates from the Institute of Pencil Sharpening in Self-Control and Patience. Con- gratulations Boys! Have you heard that Norm Pettini, Jim Pearson, Bob Watrous, and William Matlock are Directors of the Department of Sanitary Engineers? Also, Lois Mundell has been appointed Librarian of the West CUP'CHk6 Library in New Foundland. Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention that Larry Weintrob, Bill Lord, and September 22, 1974 Jim Crangle have taken over the Dollar Steamship Lines. Bob Kelsey is Vice-President of the Dupont Corporation. By the way, have you seen Bob Dick's latest photo in the New York Times - he's Photography Editor you know. Dan Killeen is Youth Director of the YMCA in East Over-Shoe, Bea Pedro is teaching basketball at the Moosup High School. Roger said that Lorraine Wojtkiewicz is modeling doll clothes for Santa's Workshop. Les Howard has recently been awarded the ping-pong championship of the United States, Ron Stevenson and Richard St. Louis have won the 1973 Academy Award for their famous movie Space Cadets. Find Pedersen has his own little florist shop specializing in roses and violets. I understand that Nancy Ferris and Jane Grover, the highly efficient secretaries, are now employed at S. S. Kressge 81 Company as clerks behind the ribbon counter. Gontram Lamberty and Bud Stanley have just arrived home after a two-year tour of Mars in their newest rocketship, The Let-Down. I took the afternoon off the other day and went to the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey circus, and who was featured on the high wire but Mickey johnson, and as I looked over in the corner, I saw Jan Felice carrying water for the elephants. Well, I guess that takes care of everyone. Per- haps, in the near future, my symphony Will be Per' mitted to perform at an assembly program ifl Mitchell Hall.
